I feel so incredibly gross and bloated right now and have the worst gas.. Sorry I know this is TMI but I need help. I am usually a regular gal but this pregnancy has changed that. My doc recently changed my prenatal to one with iron but also an added stool softener. I haven't seen a difference yet tho. I also started eating prunes 3 days ago and so far that hasn't helped. I know when I finally do go it will be an event! And it will involve a lot of cramping. Sigh. Has anyone combatted this problem before?

have you tried prune juice yet?

I tired it with my first and it worked amazingly well. I had 1 glass and it kicked in the next day. It does not taste good but it worked
girlsofsummer likes this.

I take milk of mag every 4 days or so and colace in between. I deal with this when I'm not pregnant so when I am, I gotta break out the big guns to get the job done.

Blueberries should help also. And avoid bananas and cheese!

I had the same problem and a friend of mine (she just had a baby) suggested miralax. It worked wonders! I mix it with a glass of pineapple juice or drink of choice every couple days.

I'm struggling with this too! So far I have been taking Colace every day and Miralax every two or three days and still no luck!

I think I have Colace, but I have to watch when I take it. If I take it at night, then I'm up every couple of hours with stomach pain. The first time I took it, such relief! But now I think my body has adjusted to the lower bathroom frequency and I don't have the pain anymore.

I agree with Milk of Magnesia. Many times, stool softners don't work for me, so I have to do something more, Milk of Mag always works.

A magnesium supplement will help a lot and it is good for pregnancy!
