An excellent article about fear and anxiety over childbirth.
And one of the best pieces of info I've read so far: "Unlike any other type of pain, pain during labor and delivery doesn't need to be fixed and it actually serves a purpose—to bring your baby into the world. If you recognize why it’s there and know ways you can cope with it, you’ll feel more confident in dealing with it."
My favorite thing I've heard about labor pains: The contractions can't be stronger than you because they are you!
I'm far more nervous about miscarriage/still birth...I try to not let it worrying about having a loss get to me but it's hard. Labor seems so far away and by the time I get there I feel like I've won most of the battle, if that makes any sense.
I love that quote! It reminds me of what they said in the documentary on Netflix.. Women go to hospitals to have a baby but a hospital is where people go when they are sick or broken. Doctors don't really know how to handle a natural child birth because they want to fix you, and there's nothing wrong. I am all about women using childbirth as am empowering experience, knowing what they want, trusting their bodies and letting nature take its course. I'm not against pain medication but I think the rest should be on your body's terms. It knows what it's doing!
