As we were driving down our road tonight coming home, DH and I found a stray dog. He is a beautiful brown-coated Weimaraner, very fearful and emaciated.
We drove around the neighborhood and asked a neighbor if he had seen the dog so we could try to feed it and see if it had tags. He said the dog belonged to a neighbor up the street and probably got out, but that the dog was always chained inside a fence, all the time. We walk our dogs all the time and have never heard or seen the dog, which is very surprising. But if its chained up every day, many of the houses have high fences that we wouldn't be able to see it anyway.
Its owners had clearly starved this poor dog. All I can hope is that it runs far away and never comes back. I don't think Animal Control would be of any use at this point.
I am so sad. I can't help but cry and wonder how human beings can be so cruel.
That breaks my heart I don't understand why people like that have animals. Give them to someone who will love and take care of the poor thing. I hope you can find it and give it some food. If they get it back, I'd honestly be calling animal control on them.
