I scheduled my anatomy scan for next Thursday (Dec. 19) but since I've never done this whole being pregnant thing before, can anyone give me an approximate length of time? Trying to figure if I need I break down and get a substitute or ask my principal if I can be a little late... My appt is at 8am (first one of the day) and school starts at 9am. Thoughts?

I was told at my last appointment it would last approximately an hour. Though I'm not totally sure about that, because with my anatomy scan at 12 weeks at the hospital, the ultrasound lasted a grueling hour and a half since the baby wasn't in the right position for some of the measurements. I don't know how quickly your office typically gets you in, but I'd say at least an hour for the actual exam.

I had mine today and it was like 2 hours because I had to wait for the doctor. The actual scan was about 30-40 minutes or so. I would definitely plan to go in late because if anything is running a little behind you'll probably be late.

Plan on being there a minimum of an hour (could very easily be longer).

Stupid question: my doctor is sending me to another place to do this ultrasound. This is the one that will tell me the gender, is that the same as the anatomy scan?

And it's looking as if I'll have to prepare for a substitute.... That's my LEAST favorite part of teaching! That and my students are so high maintenance that it rarely works out with a sub! Thank you for the responses though! :-) at least I'll get to see my sweet baby and find out the gender! Whoo hoo!
