I'm not quite 26 weeks but my doctor measured my uterus at about 27 weeks- personally I think he measured wrong but whatever. Does weight/fat effect this measurement at all? Like if you're just gaining a lot of weight will you measure bigger? I actually do tend to measure a little big for some reason even though I'm of average build but I did just gain 9 lbs in 6 weeks- ugh.

I've not been measured yet. Not looking forward to it. They always press too hard on my pubic bone and it hurts so much.

I don't think my measurement really helps answer your question but I'm almost 22 weeks and I am measuring 26.

I'm not worried just wondering how they measure you and if it's effected by weight (which I'd think it'd have to be). If so, why do they even bother since it seems rather inaccurate.

The measure "should" be that of your uterus determined by pressing down until they feel the top of it so it shouldn't be affected by weight I am measuring right on. Has varied from a few days ahead to right on so far. Its not something my OB tends to stress about unless you start measuring way behind.

I have never been measured. I was never measured last pregnancy either now that I think about it. I have routine ultrasounds (high risk) so I guess they keep track of the babys size there. Anyway all they said last one was baby was a "good size". Whatever that means....

When I was measured at 14 weeks I was measuring 22weeks but two days ago at my 23 week appt I was measuring on track/a little ahead and baby is measuring two days behind based on ultrasound so I really don't hold much value in measuring the uterus.

They don't do fundal measurements here...at least not my doc. She feels where my uterus is but doesn't take an actual measurement so I have no clue...she checks growth of the baby with a quick u/s at every appointment anyway so guessing based on the fundus would be kind of pointless since she does an u/s. I've heard fundal measurements can be way off anyway.

Yeah, when they measure they try to feel the uterus to see where and how big it seems to be. It's not completely accurate, just an estimate. At my appt last week the baby on u/s was exactly right for 24 weeks, but my midwife's measurement of my belly was 26 weeks. She did say that there's often a growth spurt in mom's size/weight about this time, which is probably why my belly measured bigger.

I always seem to be a few days ahead according to my u/s. Nothing significant, though.

I am very confident of my conception date, not a typical 14-dayer.

I too have consistently measured 2 weeks ahead throughout the whole pregnancy- I'm pretty athletic/started at a normal weight, so I don't think it has as much to do with weight or belly fat. My OB said it's accurate plus or minus 2-3cm. I think it just helps to know if the right rate of growth is happening from one appt to the next, rather than the asbolute number.

Lol plus or minus 3 cm seems like a big range I guess it's good for just making sure baby is growing/ you don't need additional tests.

At 20 weeks I was measuring spot on, this week at my 24 week appt they measured me at 28. I don't feel this doc was accurate though. But I also don't take much stock in the measurements.

I don't think they measure here. OB has manually felt baby's position once and the rest of the time we usually checks out how Jellybean is doing and we listen to the heartbeat via ultrasound. My actual baby was measuring a fair bit ahead at the last official scan (19w5d morphology scan, measuring over 21 weeks) after being spot on the rest of the time so I have to go for another around 30 to check how he's growing but no tummy measuring here.
