my 1 hour. So I start a 3 day diet on Friday they want me to follow and then I start fasting at 10pm on Sunday night, I go in at 10am for my 3 hour test.

First time out of 4 kids I've had to do this. I'm not thrilled at all. I wasn't supposed to fast, so I had a small bowl of cheerios. I hope that didn't mess with it. It was barely over the failing line. Boo

Last time I failed my one hour also. I had breakfast before. Nothing extravagant like a continental breakfast lol, more like toast and milk lol. I get there do it and they asked if I ate. I'm like huh, if I was supposed to fast you should have told me. I passed the three hour no big deal. But it was long and boring.

Cheerios screwed you…that's what they said screwed me! I too failed my 1 hour…first time ever. I did my 3 hour yesterday. I told them what I ate an hour before the test and they said Fruit Loops and Cheerios are the two worst things to eat before! Now I'm waiting on my 3 hour results. I will be pissed if I fail!

My OB always has me eat something with protein before the test - nothing heavy on carbs/sugar. Sorry girl

For those who still need to do the one hour, Just eat protein before, no carbs.... If you must eat carbs stay away from anything with milk..

Hope you pass the 3 hour

My first one 8 years ago I had to fast

I hardly ever eat cereal but my appt was so early I didn't have time to make anything! I wish they would tell you the foods to avoid!

That's the thing with the one hour test. It's a non fasting test but it's the not fasting that makes sooooooooo many people fail. I thunk I mentioned it earlier but here in Aus they are phasing out the one hour test entirely and you do the two hour one from the start. Saves the time of people failing the one hour and having to come in a second time for the fasting two hour one. Good luck with your next test! If you are just over then you'll probably go awesome on the next one .

That's a bummer! I had a huge sandwich right before mine and ate nothing but bagels and cream cheese all day. You think they'd try to have a similar practice all across the board for that test.

When I went in for the 3 hour test, I asked the guy drawing my blood his opinion on fasting for the 1 hour. He told me some doctors say do it, some say don't, but in his opinion he thinks we should for 8 hours.

I fasted and failed. My dr told me after the fact to eat like peanut butter on toast, something small and filing. But, since I didn't pass I needed to do the 3 hr and I passed that was starving after to the point I was like sick. I am sure you will do just fine. This was the first I have failed as well, and I have done it 5 other times.

I'm not worried, honestly. Knowing it was more than likely the stupid cheerios, I think I'm good.

I'm just going to have to force myself to eat 3 meals a day (I can't eat when I wake up) and follow the diet they want me to do over the weekend. That'll be the hard part.
