Isla.

And would you consider it a popular name? I'm mildly obsessed with it. There is another very different spelling (but the name origin is different and means something different).

I LOVE Isla. I do have a friend who named her daughter Isla 5 years ago. But that was the first time I ever heard the name and the only girl I know named Isla. I don't think it's popular at all.

Eye-lah, right? I adore the name!

Also, I wouldn't consider it a popular name. I have yet to meet one. Only one I know is the actress Isla Fisher.

I don't think its very popular but as far as pronunciation, I don't think most people will say it correctly....which is unfortunate because it's a pretty name.

I have a high school friend on Facebook that has a 3 month old named Isla. When I read her facebook posts I always thought it was Eeslah. But now that I googled it I read it could be Eye-lah or Is-lah. She's the only one I know with the name. Which ever way it's pronounced, I think it's beautiful

Isla was one of our top contenders...love it! But it just didn't feel like it was the name. It's still on our list in case our name doesn't seem to suit her after she is born. I think it's more popular in the UK and I think it will continue to rise in popularity in the States as well but I wouldn't consider it really popular. If anything the increasing popularity will help with the pronunciation. I know of 2 Islas (both American). One is 6 and the other is in her 20's. Alternative spellings that I have seen: Ayla, Eila.

I have a niece named isla. Other than that I do not think it's a popular name!

Oh but yes I knew how to pronounce it before my niece...I think it's common enough that there won't be that issue but not too popular.

I think of it as being pronounced eye-lah. I think it's starting to get more popular in the last few years but not over the top everywhere. I know of a couple of young girls named Isla but they are all under 5.

One of my friend's daughters is named Isla When she first announced the name several people asked her about the pronunciation but I don't think it has been a big deal. Obviously Isla Fisher is pretty well known which helps. I love it!

I think I'm the only person who didn't know up until Friday that "Eye-lah" was how you pronounced Isla Fisher's name! I've never heard anyone say it! Yes, I found Eila several months ago and really liked it. It's Hebrew for "strong oak." But I think I like Isla better -- it just visually looks more appealing.

I was pretty set on Mirielle but now......Ahh!!

Names are so hard! haha! I prefer the spelling Isla over Eila/Ayla too.
