At my 36w appt on Monday, I had lost 3 lbs and was measuring 35 cm, 1 cm growth from my 34w appt.
Midwife didn't mention the weight loss, but she did say that they'd see how I was measuring at my 37w appointment and send me for an ultrasound if need be.
Does that sound like typical protocol? I'm just curious. I thought it was very odd for me personally to lose weight --- granted, my appetite hasn't been as crazy, but I'm still eating a good amount. I was so wrapped up in already being dilated 3cm that I didn't ask more about this.
I don't think weight loss at the end is concerning bc you just have less room- I never gain as much at the end. Also, those measurements are super off..my doctor doesn't even do them often..he checked twice this pregnancy.
I lost at the end last time and looks like this time as well. Appetite decreases and its harder to eat with so much baby.....not sure about the us? I have one at 37 weeks and its just standard for my doc. He likes to double check babys position and size at 37 weeks.
I think it depends if you have weight to lose. If I had changed my diet as soon as I got pregnant, I could have lost 25lbs and still have a totally healthy baby. I have lost 3lbs since last Friday but I was all kinds of swelled up last week and I have been working my butt off to get my body to get rid of the excess water.

I don't pay attention to my weight but a friend of mine lost a few pounds near the end and I think my MIL did too. My MIL had a hard time eating at the end. Also, fundal height can be really off and have a lot to do with baby's positioning....perhaps he/she dropped more and that's why? My doc doesn't even do fundal measurements.
I agree--this sounds normal I think? Was just reading about fundal height last night and apparently it is a much less useful measurement after about 34 weeks because of baby dropping lower.
That's what I was just thinking. It makes more sense to me that the whole fundal height thing might slow down a little with baby dropping into the pelvis. With the big boofy head mostly out of the way and out of the main belly bit I would think it would free up some room! Never know though, might score another ultrasound out of it . Same with the losing weight. Everywhere I look to get a judgement of how much weight I should be putting on in the last month or so says that usually you put on sfa or even lose some even though bub keeps chubbing up.
Whereas I for totally unknown reasons seem to have added about 5 pounds in the last week and a half. WHY???? Oh well.
Haha sounds like me . On the home stretch now and weight seems to be creeeping up mighty quick. I thought I was going to get away with staying under 80kg but I was 78.6kg at my 36 week appointment... whoops!
