Since most of you are second time moms- when was the earliest you heart the HB via doppler? I know it's too early, but just curious. I have a doppler I'm borrowing from a friend for my pregnancy, and I was wondering when it would be best to start trying to find the HB?

It's this one-
BabyBeat Display/Recorder Fetal Doppler

Similar to the ones an OB/midwife would use.

I did see it when I had an u/s done at 9 weeks but I believe I was 12 weeks when the midwife used the doppler for the first time.

15 weeks 2 days I have the file saved on my computer. That was the first time I got a strong confirmed heartbeat on my own. Dopplers pick up every sound in your body from air to bowel sounds, so sometimes it is hard to decipher early on.

I used a doppler at home with Betsy and it was definitely early second trimester. I thought I had found it earlier but I was just listening to my own heartbeat. That thing was a life saver, especially during the late third trimester when I would try to to a kick count and the little girl refused to move (I should have realized she was fiercely independent even back then -- no one was going to tell her when to kick!).

I have the Sonoline B. The earliest was like 7 weeks, but only for a few seconds at a time. Consistently, I could find it at 8.5 weeks! It is very hard to find early on, but I know where to look and the sound is unmistakable once you have it. It sounds like a galloping horse, very quick. My heart rate always runs low, so I know it's the babies when it's 130-140-ish+. It becomes much easier, especially if it's your first and you're inexperienced in finding it, after 12 weeks.

I found Jessica's heartbeat with the babybeat at 8 weeks 4 days BUT her placenta was in the back, so they said it was no wonder I felt kicks early and heard the heartbeat early! I want to get one but I think I'll wait another month.

I use the sonoline b with my last 2 and heard my ds son at 8 weeks 4 days, could have heard it sooner but I was looking too low for him. With my dd it was about 7 1/2 weeks but it wasn't easy and only for a few seconds. I wont be trying that early this time... well I say that now lol. For sure will be looking at 8 weeks. I actually have a youtube video of the first time we heard our ds on the doppler at home.

Ok thanks guys! The friend I'm borrowing from heard hers at 11 weeks, but didn't actually try earlier to see. Maybe I'll start at 9/10 and just see.

For those of you use the sonoline B, do you recommend this model? I am looking to buy one but I would like a good one. Thanks

Yes, Danielle!!!! I highly recommend it! It's easy to use and pretty sensitive. I was able to find Bailey's at 7 weeks. I'll wait until probably 8 weeks this time to try(maybe )

I can't wait to get and use one. I didn't have one with my other 2. I saw one in the local ads today for $65.

A lot depends on where the placenta ends up. Mine was anterior so we didn't hear it until 13 weeks in the OB office. But I think you can hear it as early as 10 if it's placed right
