Hello! I haven't been on JM in quite awhile but we're cautiously expecting baby #5 in mid-June. Hoping for a smooth pregnancy and delivery because I had a lot of problems with #3 born 10 weeks premature, and #4 born by emergency c-section due to placental abruption. I also have lupus. Would prefer a very uneventful pregnancy this time!

Hi and welcome! I have a cousin that has lupus and she is a few weeks ahead of us in pregnancy with her 3rd! I hope all goes well and uneventful with baby#5. Will you be having a repeat C-Section?

Thank you! I was only diagnosed with lupus last year but I think I've had it awhile and it was probably why my last 2 pregnancies had issues. I can still take my medicine while pregnant so I am hopeful! I would love to have a VBAC - who has their 4th baby be their c-section?? - but I don't know how feasible an option that will be.

I am currently researching VBAC as well! I am scared but also don't want to be drugged up on pain meds after a C-Section as I will need to be functioning with my kids when DH goes back to work after the week off he has! My 3rd was my C-section. My 2nd almost was!!

I hope you don't mind me asking but what meds are you on? I only ask because I have been monitored by a Rhuematologist for a while and my recent bloodwork came back funny. I am due to see him next Monday. He was saying something about Lupus meds as a precaution. I asked him if we could continue TTC and he said yes. I was just wondering what meds you are on because I know what he normally prescribes and I wanted to ask how you like them.

Welcome!! I am praying for this pregnancy to be smooth and healthy for you!!!

Danielle, I take Plaquenil. It's considered safe for pregnancy and it helps the body produce less auto-antibodies to attack cells. Last year when I started it, I was also taking pain medication for my joints and an acid blocker because I was sick to my stomach all the time. After the Plaquenil kicked in (and it takes awhile to build up in your bloodstream) I was able to stop both of those medications and I have very little pain and a much happier stomach, and the exhaustion is less. It has basically no side effects, too. I really can't complain!

That is the med he usually uses. I am sure that's what he will suggest. Thank you so so much for sharing your experiences. It is a great relief to talk to someone is on the med and very early in pregnancy also!!
