Akkkk! My new OB can't see me until November 11th, even though I don't know how far along I am and I lost a set of twins (missed) at 5 weeks last time. I loved my old OB's office, and they would have me in the office next day, but now that I'm a NICU nurse, I know a lot more than I did last time, and I'll never deliver at that hospital again. So.. I guess I'm stuck waiting for the one OB that all the L&D nurses recommend. Not fun! For one thing, my husband and I aren't telling ANYONE until we see a heartbeat, and by then I'll be 8-14 weeks (I.e., not easy to hide for a slender third timer). Anyone else looking forward to a long wait and want to commiserate with me? :-)

My first appointment is Nov. 11, too, but I guess it doesn't seem late to me. My old practice with my son didn't regularly see patients until 10 weeks or so, and I didn't get in with him until almost 18 weeks (my appointment kept getting rescheduled because the midwife was at deliveries). I'll be right atound 10 weeks when I go in this time (I'm guessing), so I'm happy with that.

My first appointment isn't until 11/7, first ultrasound should be that day as well. It seems like it's taking forever to get here. I had a loss in December and some spotting between 3-4 weeks so I really am anxious to get in to see that everything is going ok!

I've had 3 losses and still i haven't even gotten a date for my booking appointment and my doctor has told me i wont be seeing her again until im 24 weeks! Apparently they dont want to waste time with pregnancies that aren't viable.

My first appt is November 21st, and I'm TOO IMPATIENT!!! lol

and NewMommy- aren't there important tests and scans that need to be done at 20 weeks? I'm not a doctor, just from memory with my first.. but I would think I would push for an appt much sooner

I don't even have a midwife yet. :\ Still scheduling consultations to find one. I seriously can not wait to start getting real prenatal appointments.

My first appt isn't until Nov. 8th. I'll be 9 weeks and that's standard with my midwifery practice. Its a looong wait but I'm low risk, sure enough of my dates, and not experiencing any worrying symptoms. I'm just counting down the days!

Oh i know, but im in Ireland and i have learnt from my last pregnancy that there is no rushing system here. There is nothing i can do but wait. I f im lucky (and fingers crossed i am) then i will get into the MLU which means i will be seen quickly with minimal waiting at appointments and get the best care available for free. If im unlucky then i will have to suffer with everyone else in the local hospital.

I don't even have an appt. I finally got stuff squared away with insurance Monday called my OB office and they told me to call back Monday when they can verify before making an appt. If it wasn't for the free clinic I wouldn't even know that it's twins at this point...EEK

Aside form moving back to England there is nothing to be done, this is just how it is over here and as I cant afford to move my family to a different country I may as well make the best of it.

I also don't really know how far along I am, but I am going with my estimation that I will be 6 weeks next Monday. My GP doesn't want me to even call my midwife until I am 10 weeks, which is 11/25! I am pretty sure I am going to call at 7 or 8 weeks though to make the appointment and to talk to the midwives to see if they want an U/S for dating sooner than 10 weeks. I just want to hear that little heartbeat!

My first appointment (other than the intake with the midwife) is 11/12/13 and I'll be 10 weeks 2 days. I get an ultrasound then. My OB loves to watch me squirm. His theory is, if a baby pops out, you were pregnant. If the baby is healthy, then you had a healthy baby.

You're in the medical field...do you know a u/s tech that would sneak you in? (I don't know policies but if I worked in the medical field I'd be looking LOL)

I found out I was pregnant at 10 DPO and won't have my official first prenatal appointment until Monday -- when I"m just over 9 weeks. I had an intake appointment which was pointless and stupid. And had I not had a scare and went in for an early scan, I'd be waiting until 12 weeks for the first official scan at the NT scan.

So yes, I think the long wait for the first real appointment is the norm. Besides, you want to be far along enough so that if you get a chance for an u/s, you'll actually see the baby!

I already had an appt scheduled with my OB for my yearly pap this past Monday. He went ahead and confirmed the pregnancy with a urine test. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Nov 8th just for dating purposes, and then I won't have my 1st REAL Ob app until about 3wks after that. So yeah, I guess I have a long wait, but I'm ok with that.

I still have to wait until Nov 6. OB wanted me to wait that long since we dont really know how far along I am at this point. I am hoping, if I am guessing correctly, I am 5w3d so should be right at 7 weeks when I go in. Even though its better to wait longer.... the wait is so long! lol

I think that's normal. I just had my first real first appointment, and I was over 8 weeks. I ended up having an ultrasound, but wasn't supposed to.. so I was lucky! Otherwise, I'd have the NT at 12 weeks.
