Last night we drove to Burlington, ON and had dinner with my parents in their new apartment. It couldn't have been more perfect. We were there for about 45 mins before I was able to lead the conversation to our big announcement. I asked my mom if they were done unpacking and specifically if they had all their scrabble games unpacked (they have about 6 different versions of scrabble).
She said yes and that they had even played a game with my brother and his girlfriend the other night - I replied that DH and I had been practicing so that we could hold our own against her and Dad next time we played with them...and then I told them about the "ridiculous" game we played last night and how crazy DH was with his word scores. DH chimed in asking me "Didn't you take a picture of the board?". I then pulled out my eReader and showed them our Scrabble Announcement!
It was so cute, neither of them put together the announcement right away - my Dad mentioned that you can't have floating words and spaces between words and my mom was trying to figure out how DH had enough letters to spell out "surprise"...but then, wait for it...wait for it...almost simultaneously they read the full message and got crazy excited, lol.
They couldn't really focus on anything else the rest of the evening, my Dad was especially tickled about the Due Date being his birthday and my Mom had to start calling other family members right away. They were both shocked that my little brother knew for about a month and didn't tell them, to quote my mom "He knew??? Oh that little ****" (in a fond tone).
We posted the scrabble picture on Facebook this morning so now everyone knows
