So I have always taken Sudafed. I took it with my other pregnancy to. I took it with this one up until I found out I was pregnant. I asked my OB and she said it was fine. But it has to be the pseudoephedrine type. Well hubby got a different kind and she had that active ingredient but then HYDROCHLORIDE. Well I was unsure so I called the pharmacy and she said it is only safe after the 2nd trimester. UGH has any body else's' OB or midwife say anything? I am worry now that I have taken it!! TIA

I haven't taken any, but I would stick with Tylenol or Benadryl, which are both safe throughout pregnancy. I'm a wimp and take nothing because I do nothing but worry.

I'm afraid to take it either way. My husband's coworker is a retired obgyn, and I had him ask this morning for me. He said saline nose spray, or steam to clear up my clogged nose. I'm just the type to play it as safe as possible. I hear horror stories of decongestants.

Here's the thing, one dose - even a few doses - probably won't do anything. But now that you know, I wouldn't take more. My doc said that zyrtec or clariten will work for allergies but she didn't say anything about sudafed. I do remember my last ob told me no, but i was miserable so i did for a night or two when i was at my worst.
