My baby is going to be five in 17 days. And then kindergarten. And then college.

And he's so excited to be a big brother, it makes my heart all soft and spongy when he talks about the baby, because he's still my baby.

*weep*

aw! It's so bittersweet to watch them grow!

However, I read this as your baby was going to be 17 in 5 days (EEK!) and leaving for college soon and I panicked for you.

Oh man, I would panic for me too. I can barely handle kindergarten, I don't know what I will do when college comes.

Awww! So big! I taught kindergarten and remember it was always harder on the parents than the kids. He is going to love it and be the best big brother ever!

Awwwww!!! I totally know! Ryan will be 4 in January and stsrting daycare/preschool a couple days a week, probably half days... but hes getting so big! Last year he was wearing diapers and figuring out words... working on potty training... and now... hes speaking sentences, is potty trained helps with Luke and keeps giving my tummy kisses rubbing it and saying baby! I cant even wrap my head around the fact Luke will be 3 before the baby arrives! *sigh* Lets go eat a box of sweets and go cry together!

I feel your pain. My oldest will be 3 next weekend. I don't even want to think about kindergarten in the next few years . They grow too fast.

Well my big weep party is being made worse as the day's events unfold.

I'm fighting the urge to go get Bodhi from school, only because the district hasn't issued any notice of lockdowns or early release.

Aaand Briggy's dad just informed me that a bomb just went off across the street from his work, which is about a mile from my house.
ETA: Apparently it was just a flashbang at a bar. THANKS SO MUCH, drama queen babydaddy, for sending me into a whole new world of panic for like ten minutes.

It's scary to have them grow up!! I cried HARDCORE when my son started kindergarten and looked at me (while in the classroom) and said, "mommy? I want to go play with those kids.." and I wanted to say, "NO! you're my baby and you're not staying here!!!" lol.

I was so scored when my baby starts k this fall. We moved n June so one had no school or daycare over the summer and hated it. We have zero family support so I was ready for some me time. Four weeks later.......surprise!!! Baby on the way.

This thread makes me kinda sad.... because I have a 20-year-old stepson and I'm kind of dying to get him employed and out of my house, LOL. I didn't get the "baby years" with him, maybe that's why I'm not so sentimental about it? I feel guilty now... he really needs to at least start paying rent, tho...

No, no. Youre right about that. If my kids were 20 and living at home, they would either be working and SAVING money, or going to school. They dont have to pay rent, as long as they can manage to help around the house. But if they are enemployed and living off of us, not doing anything, trying or contributing... then they can go live in one of those cheap roach motels until they can contribute and appreciate what they have.
