So I want to register for baby diapers and....HELP! There are so many brands with so many different "features". Anyone have a preference for one brand? Is there a reason to completely avoid one type? Should I just buy what's on sale?

We are using Honest diapers because they are biodegradable and don't contain chemicals like bleach. They can only be ordered online though through the website.

Well I was wondering the same thing last week! I was going to put Pampers Swaddlers on my registry just because it seems like everyone I know says they are the best newborn diapers. My friend who just had a baby has the newborn babies r us brand diapers and said she doesn't like them as much as the swaddlers. However Huggies sent me a free sample of their little snugglers, and of their pure and natural, and I have to say, I am sold on the pure & natural ones just because they feel more soft. If I were a baby, I'd want that feeling on my little butt lol. So those are the ones I registered for, huggies pure & natural.

I work at babies r us and I noticed the other day that there is a brand "Earth's best" diapers that advertises no chlorine. I want to check these out and see if they also feel as soft. I know when choosing disposable diapers they will all probably have some chemicals in them but DH said "absolutely no cloth diapers", so I'm really trying to find disposable diapers that will at least be soft & comfortable for the baby.

ETA: Since this is my first I know nothing about if some brands leak through more than others, but I am hoping BTDT moms comment on this and share about that!

I like Pampers baby dry - they can last upto 12 hours (Noah slept through from 3 months old) and they are a great fit for a chunky baby. I tried Huggies but diodnt like them - less absorbent and i found they leaked at the legs.

I had good luck with the Walmart brand diapers with the boys... but apparently it's a big gamble to take. Luvs were an okay experience, but I only used them once the boys got older so I can't give experience on newborn blowouts or liquidy poops. I love the Honest diaper designs.. sooo adorable but they do cost more. I've never used them so I don't have personal experience, I just oogled the designs on the website.

I prefer Pampers. The always held everything in and didn't smell like pee the minute they were wet. I just tried Honest diapers for the first time a few months ago on my toddler. I like them, but they reek of pee the minute they're wet not sure I'm going to stick with them because of that...

I like the White Cloud brand the best, Luvs 2nd, but also use Walmart and Target brand. I may be one of the few, but I don't like pampers or Huggies at all. Huggies have never fit my boys right, and Pampers feel squishy with just a tiny bit of pee in them.

I'm sensitive to smells (lots of allergies also) so Pampers Swaddlers end up making me sneeze. They smell like baby powder.

Huggies, Walmart, Target and White Coud worked fine. One DD developed a reaction to Target brand (hives) but they held the urine and poo just fine until then. Luvs didn't work for any of the 3 girls.

Edit: Sam's club Member Mark diapers worked well and were cheap. Loved their wipes, too.

I was a pampers diapers person with both my boys, but we are going cloth with this little man. I suggest registering for a couple different brands so you can try them each and see what you like. Everyone has different opinions and in the end some brands work better for some babies than others.
I only buy Huggies wipes! Pampers always felt thin and weird to me and Huggies are thicker.

I still use the Pampers night time diapers -- those suckers can hold a flood! Betsy has always used them and they lasted all night long -- as an infant, she'd sleep for 10 hours at night and never wake up from a wet diaper.

We are cloth diapering asap but refuse to buy cloth for newborn. So we will use 7th generation sposies until Mila fits her OS Fuzzibunz, Charlie Bananas, and Bumgenius.

I cloth diapered my son until he was 11 months old, but after that I ended up ordering inexpensive diapers from Amazon. I never had quality issues and they were much less expensive then name brands.

I am a first time mommie - so my opinion is bound to change...but I have samples of Pampers and Huggies for newborns and I really prefer the feel of the Huggies. I am not sure why, but I just have an aversion to Pampers - it's completely unrealistic because it's not like I've ever used them, and none of my friends who have used them have voiced anything really negative...I just don't want to use them, lol - how's that for crazy preggo reasoning!

We're having a diaper party for DH though (diapers, scotch and cigars to be exact) so I am sure I'll use whatever is given to me and be grateful for it...but if I had my choice at this point in time, I'd go for the Huggies Pure and Natural diapers

I really love Huggies when they are first born. I like the umbilical cutout on the newborn size and the stretchy band is good for containing those newborn poops. Once I get past the initial phase, I use Luvs. They are a cheaper option and work great. Never had a problem with Luvs. We did try WMart brand with dd when she was little and she broke out terribly. I've heard great things about Target diapers, but have never used them personally.

Have you used them before, if so, what was your experience? I'm seriously considering them..... but I've read a lot of mixed reviews. Mainly that they leak really bad and just aren't absorbent.

Also, do you find that the month's supply lasts all month, or did you have to go out and buy diapers near the end of the month?

Thank you!!!

We only used newborn sposies with my first and for him we used Pampers Swaddlers without any issues with anything. After the newbie stage I prefer Huggies to anything else. I HATE LUVS with a passion but other moms LOVE them! Diapers are totally personal preference lol. Wipes on the other hand I am very picky. If using disposables I will only use Huggies or Walmart brand. Everything else is thin and weird to me lol

I personally have not used them, but have friends who swear by them. My hubby did the math to see how they compared to Pampers, and if you actually figure out the cost per wipe and diaper, it's nearly the same.

My friend's have said a month's supply actually lasts about 6 weeks, and you can schedule your shipments for whenever, so it's not a problem.

I went online and ordered a free sample, which should be here this week. I'll let you know how if I'm impressed. ;-)

i hop around during different stages.

when it comes to newborns, i love Pampers swaddlers because they have that little design on the front perfect for not iritating the umbilicle cord.

when they are moving, i prefer huggies cruisers because they just seem to absorb more

I used huggies last time because they were available at Sams Club in bulk. I did try the sams club brand and although they worked as far as containing leaks, on multiple occassions the velcro was messed up. The tabs would break off when you stretched them over to close the diaper. So that was a whole diaper wasted. So after a few boxes that contained defective ones, I stopped buying them. But that was 6 years ago...so I might try them again to try and save money.
