This is something of a tradition in my family, and it's generally gag gifts of all sorts. However, some pieces have remained true throughout all the kits we've put together.
A basic kit includes:
Burp Cloths and
Hand sanitizer or soap
Now, it seems you can buy something similar at Party Supply stores for about $13. As with most things in my life, basic anything just isn't enough. I have to go and personalize such silly gifts. Since I am a single Mom, a Daddy Doody Kit seems a bit strange. I have to kind of set this up for you, bear with me. Without going into all the details, my best friend has stepped in to be Daddy (He will be her God Father after all, so it's not so far fetched I suppose). Anyway, today my Mom and I went out shopping to put together the kit. First you must understand that he was adamant that he would not let her paint his nails pink, but would allow blue or black. He wouldn't let her braid his hair or play dress up with her. He went so far as to cut off his hair to avoid having it braided years from now, and he ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, will NOT change a diaper. As I've gotten further into my pregnancy he's gotten excited about his role in her life and is starting to succumb to her charms even though she's not here yet. So, here's what is included in my besties Daddy Doody Kit so far (Mom has reserved some surprises I don't even know about yet!) :
J's Daddy Doody Kit:
Heavy Duty Tool Box
Baster (to wash Poppet's bottom with)
Pink zebra stripped Rubber Gloves
Personalized Burp Cloths with J and Poppet's initials on them
A frilly Apron (to serve as a splash guard)
A super sized bottle of hand sanitizer
20 varying shades of pink, blue, red, and sparkly nail polish
A blue, purple, and pink hair extension (since he chopped his hair off, she had nothing to braid problem solved!)
And the rest My Mom purchased unbeknownst to me, so I can only fathom to guess what else she has in store for my best friend. I also think I forgot something in the list that we picked up today for the kit.. but I'll find out in a couple weeks what all ended up in there! Anything you ladies think I should add? How many of you are doing something similar for Daddy?
