I had an u/s today and baby measured right at 6wks. The tech couldn't pick up a heart beat, but she did show me the baby fluttering around and told me that it was too early for the machine to pick it up. I asked if she was sugar coating it for me and she said no that they don't sugar coat....the OB said the same thing...it was just too early for the machine. She wanted me back in 2 weeks for another u/s, but I'm going to be out of town for Thanksgiving so I go back in 3.....I also have to meet with the high risk OB because of my "advanced maternal age"....hahaha...I'm 35....at 14 weeks....I saw him before and they do u/s at every appointment...=)

Pretty uneventful.

Don't you love being considered old at 35. Kinda makes me laugh. But, yay for a healthy baby and an ultrasound at every appointment makes me kinda wish I was in this "advanced maternal age" category

Thats great!!!! They did the same thing with my first aslo, the machine only showed me a teeny tiny dot, and you could hardly see any fluttering at 6weeks. This ultrasound machine for this baby was way more advanced and I got to see the hb at 6w and 5d, but with my first, not a chance. With #2 I didnt go in till 10 weeks and I could see him by then. Congrats on your healthy baby!!!!

Thanks for updating us!! Glad to hear all is good, its so funny about that maternal age thing, My OB almost put me in that category, I am 34 until June LOL she asked me if I would like to be placed in the advanced maternal age category that way I would be more closely monitored. I said no because it really does not make a difference either way, I would rather not have a ton of unnecessary appointments.

Glad to see you had a good appointment! Sorry about not having a definite due date (mine is still up in the air -- I just go w/ 5/30 because it's the "compromise" between all of the possible dates).

LOL -- I'm "advanced maternal age" and I don't feel like I'm being closely monitored at all!

So glad you got an U/S! The best thing about our MW moving into a new office before we had Bailey was they got the most advanced equipment! But, yes, if they're telling you it's too early for the machine, then they are not sugar coating anything! Congrats! Hopefully you'll get an official EDD soon. LOL on the advanced maternal age. It always makes me smile that I am so close to that, yet don't feel of any advanced age. Especially in this day and age, so many women are having babies well into their late 30s and late 40s....

Glad you saw the bean and good luck for the next ultrasound. We did see the heartbeat at our 6 week 6 day ultrasound. It is amazing how much difference just a couple of days make!

The fertility clinic we were working with never schedules an U/S before 7 weeks because they know how hard it is to find sometimes before then. Plus, if your baby is turned a certain way it might be even harder to find, esp. at only 6 weeks.

We had our first U/S at 7 weeks and 1 day and the heart beat was strong and very apparent - so I am sure you'll see a strong and perfect little hb at your next appointment

Yay for a wiggly baby! Hope the next 3 weeks go quickly for you I, too, for other reasons, get an u/s at each appt....the only advantage to being high-risk LOL
