Is it just me? I mean, I get that they are great diapers! I understand why they retail for as high as they do (materials, the fact they are one-size, quality control etc). I get that they are super-popular therefore people will try to make a buck off re-selling them (we don't allow it on our board BTW - just to keep it friendly ) Is anybody else a little Goodmama'd out? Or am I just being hormonally irritable

eta This is supposed to be a lighthearted curiosity poll - no offense to Goodmama lovers - I do get your love and agree they are soft and pretty

I don't like the slogan.

Basically, if you don't buy these goodmamma diapers, you're a cruddy mom.

What kind of advertisint is that?

"treat yourself, Treat your baby, Be a good mamma'

no thanks. LOL I can't afford 35$ a diaper.

I'm over it, lol. They are nice and soft and the fit is fantastic, but I'm just over all of the hype, the whining, the "she bought that for WHAT?", the "she sold that for WHAT?", etc.

I used to have some but ultimately a front-snapping, daytime-only diaper just wasn't going to cut it in my house. Now someone else loves them.

I said sometimes. I want to try one, but doubt I ever will. I am sick of everyone bickering about them and the whole implication that having a Goodmama makes you a good mama from some of the moms on DS. Overall though, I just don't really care that much. If I don't like it, I won't read it.

Edit to say also that, while I don't agree with people selling them to make a buck, I really don't care how much people pay for them. I would never pay even $40 for a diaper, but to each their own I guess.

I don't really care for the most part.. I think they're nice diapers, I know the price is certainly shock worthy.. But mamas scamming for profits make me sick. One openly admitted she wants to make a business of buying diapers cheap & then flipping them for a higher price.

I think she made a great business but the catty -ness its pulled out of women is sad.

Plus.. aren't with CD'ing to save money? LOL

I have quite a few gms and love them...we have some prints and a lot of OBVs. I might get one or two more at some point but really I have enough.

I hate seeing things though where a mama buys them to turn around and sell them at a higher price. I noticed one of those mamas was banned recently at DS, although probably for a different reason I guess.

Anywho I'm at the point where I love all of my stash. I might get some customs done here and there as my daughter grows but I think we're pretty set now as a lot of it is one size or has room for growth.

And now I've got a new cloth obsession to move on to...mama cloth.

i don't mind answering the same question over again becaus ei do think it makes sense -
why do they cost so much?
because they are a one-size.

HOWEVER - and not to sound condesending, to each their own with what they choose to buy for their family and i don't think owning GMs reflects EVERYONE'S personality, but i was thinking of how we had cliques in schools - and there were the "i have money and can buy expensive things so im so much cooler than you" clique. i feel like there's a lot of Goodmama mama's out there that are like that and buy them just to say they have them and to look like they are so much better than other mamas that say...ony use prefolds or WAHM fitteds. to know there's plenty of people out there wanting to try this nice diaper and even have the $ to spend the 35 on it, but to sit on yours and then post pictures of the 50 Goodmamas you own is just sad.

i don't think it's about the diaper or how good it is for a lot of the mamas that are buying them. it's starting to be about who has what money to spend on it (and who the heck knows who's in debt because of them!) and showing off that they have the most controversial and one of the most expensive diapers out right now. in 4 or 5 years it will be such a joke.

i get they are a good diaper for some, but that doesn't mean they are the cream of the crop for everyone and a more expensive diaper isnt going to make or break how good of a mom you are.

ok whoa that was a rant, hope i don't offend anyone and i guess i am a little tired of the consumerism surrounding GMs

i thought, oh ya, just watch me be a BAAAAD mama and put my baby in flats! hahahahah!

but i voted i dont care...because i just dont care! It doesnt irritate me any more than
"how do i wash my diapers" or "whats the best type of diapers" and we get those questions all the time too

Well said Val!!!

I agree with ppl buying to show they have the money or to act like the have money. IMO it's a diaper nuff said.

But hey when other places have a stocking at the same time, I get what I want.

What is with the stinkin' over selling!!! That is bad business to me!

I really don't care, but if I had $35-$40 to spend, I would use it for something more useful than something my LO was going to poo in, since I just quit my job to be a SAHM mom again, I won't be buying any GM's for a long time to come.

I, too, don't like the consumerism aspect of it. Or the slogan.

They do look like really nice diapers, and it would be nice to try one, but it just doesn't feel right to me with all the hype. I tried it once... (that makes it sound like drugs or something, doesn't it?? )

meh...the actual buying/selling aspect is far more irritating to me than the talk surrounding them. yeah they are good, blah blah blah. i don't think anyone honestly thinks that they are a better mom for using gms, but we ARE all better for using cloth, right? (just to clarify, that was JUST a joke)

i think that just like anything else some mamas love them and some don't and if SOME moms think they are better than us for using them then i really don't care to have them as friends anyway so it doesn't really bother me. i think that might be the minority of gm users...on jm anyway!

Very well said, Val.. ITA!

And we are a mama/baby combo that GMs just do not work for. The fit was horrid, and the 3 times she wore it were the 3 most recent times she had a leaky diaper! (And I got rid of it a month ago!)

But I do think using Mutts makes one a better mama **FOR THE RECORD - TOTALLY JOKING**

^ at the Mutt comment! I think we are all GOOD MAMAS no matter what our baby wears! I could put a plastic bag on Jorja's bum and still be a good mama! Of course a plastic bag isn't near as cute as a pretty fluffy bummy!

I voted that I don't care either way. I don't use GM's and I'm not in the market to try one (just not interested in a OS fitted, snapping dipe)so in that sense I don't care as much about the GM posts. But on the other hand the drama is sometimes fun to read (on DS where everyone gets offended and has their underpants in a twist about the GM posts). I love to read through those and it is just interesting to me from a business standpoint how GM's are marketed and sold by their maker and the demand that she is able to maintain for them.
They must be a good product because there are lots of mommas I know on our board here who use them and would not have a dipe that didn't get the job done.
I agree with Val about the problems with consumerism in our culture right now. I think it impacts almost every aspect of child rearing at this point, even CD'ing. For example, all the stuff you HAVE to buy for your new baby, the huge party you HAVE to throw for your kid's 5th birthday, etc. I don't have a boppie so HOW can I breastfeed!!! Ha, ha.
