I had never seen babies/toddler with necklaces until going on DS! Are they considered teething necklaces? Or just a trend/pretty? I would love to get one for my DD but worry about the safety of it. Does anyone have ones their LO's wear? Where did you buy them? I've looked on hyena cart and such, but only found mama ones. Also, if your LO wears one, do others comment on it in public?
I believe they are usually amber teething necklaces. They say that amber being worn (not chewed on) can help teething pains! They make Bracelets too. Some basic info on them:
Quote:
Wearing baltic amber is a traditional European remedy for teething. Amber is a natural analgesic and when worn on the skin, it releases healing oils that helps babies and young children to stay calm and more relaxed thoughout teething. Amber necklaces are a great natural remedy and can eliminate the need for over the counter drugs.[/b]
Quote:
Wearing Baltic Amber close to the skin is a traditional European remedy for teething babies. Amber is a natural analgesic, and will help calm your baby without resorting to drugs. Amber's natural anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties soothe teething babies safely and naturally.
Leave the teething necklace in the sun to warm up and increase the natural analgesic power and its therapeutic properties. Have your baby wear the necklace under their shirt, against their bare skin. Wearing the necklace, NOT chewing on the necklace is what provides pain relief.
Adults benefit from Amber as well! Early physicians prescribed Amber for headaches, heart problems, arthritis, thyroid, digestive ailments and a variety of other ailments. In ancient times, Amber was carried by travelers for protection. To early Christians, Amber signified the presence of the Lord.[/b]
Also, if you do a search on Hyena cart for Teething necklaces, a ton pop up! They seem to run starting at about $11.00 on Hyena cart.
We don't own one, yet, but I am going to order one for Caiden, and one for me as well (I have awful joints, and get migrains often..). I don't know if I'd let my son wear one out in public, but I think if I had a daughter I totally would.
Hope that helps!

My DS has worn an amber necklace 24/7 since he was 6mos old and has cut ALL of his teeth without the need for Tylenol or teething tabs. He stopped drooling completely within 24hrs of wearing it.
I now wear one for my carpal tunnel and DD wears one for growing pains. I love Amber! We've bought all of ours from: http://hyenacart.com/inspiredbyfinn/

Wow, 24/7? So you didn't take it off for naps/bedtime and it was safe? That is awesome he cut all his teeth with no meds!! I would love that for my DD. Did you notice your LO was less fussy? My DD has always been and still is a very fussy, high-needs baby, so wondering if the calming aspects of amber could help with that possibly. I'm for sure going to get DD a necklace and maybe a bracelet, and one for me as well. I was just looking at that hyenacart before you posted it, they have some beautiful ones!!

The one my DS wears is short enough that it would never get caught on anything. He's had it on so long he doesn't even notice it (never has). The necklace will break if enough force was put on it, and because each bead is knotted, only 1 bead would be loose so it wouldn't be a choking hazard.
I put the necklace on my DS before the fussiness of cutting teeth started, back when he was just drooling lots. But my friends have seen noticeable differences with fussiness. My one (main-stream) friend put an amber necklace on her DD who's teething like mad and it helped a ton the first couple days, but then got worse again. She figured that the amber had "worn off" (which doesn't happen lol), so she took it off and within a couple hrs, her DD was unbearably fussy so she put it back on and the level of fussiness dropped. Her teething is totally manageable with Amber and teething tabs.

I bought a amber braclet for DD. Necklace makes me to nervice. Its to big for her just yet, but I am hoping it will help her out. Added bonus is that they are pretty.
Aden had one from the time she was like...6 months old I think? Until a couple months ago when it broke
The baby teething necklaces are made at just the right length so it doesn't bother them or choke them or anything. She had hers on 24/7 during naps and overnight and everything, it was fine.
I want to get another one for her because I think they're adorable!

I think they are awesome! I want to get one for DS, and even DH has agreed to it, to stop all the drooling! Just haven't picked one I love for a boy yet.
I saw them over a spanish online store, here´s the link if anyones interested (they ship to any country, but dont forget to consult the fees).
There are two kinds of necklaces, one of ambar and the other of iris root, both excellent for dentition:
