I noticed that a few of my diapers are starting to have the ammonia smell again. The only thing I have done differently lately is not added vinegar to my wash cycle just the rinse. I use calgon and dawn only our water is hard hard hard here. I was thinking of using a little bleach in the next load but am not sure how much. Should I use the dipsenser on my washer? (it's a FL) and some of my PF's are tie dyed or solid colors and I don't want to ruin them. What do I do then?????

Personally I wouldn't try bleach. Some swear but it however I've tried it on just my inserts and though the first wash they smell better, the following wash they stink again.

I've also tried calgon and it had no help with my hard water. Try 1/4 cp of washing soda and 2 tsp of simple green. It should rinse clean. Also you may want to run 1 rinse cycle on hot (I usually run the machine normal and then do a quick wash to get the hot rinse cycle and just stop it before it goes to rinse again). Hot is really the only way to see if you have build up.

If that fails, strip with something like RLR. Works like a charm..

I have used RLR and it works great I just really didn't want to have to strip them again. It is a pain, but I guess I will do what I have to. Maybe I will pick up some simple green when I go out again.
