Specifically fitteds. I really only use pockets, and am super happy with them. But I'd like to at least try to branch out and try different things.

So can someone dumb it down for me and tell me the pros and cons of each type of cloth diaper.

Honestly I dont think there is much "benefit". But it is nice to get some variety, try different things and see what you love best. See if a different brand works better or worse for you. While I love my FB's, its nice to have GroBaby's for different options. Its nice at times to have a GB on Eryn and just throw an extra insert or 2 in the diaper bag rather than a few different stuffed pocket dipes. Just saves room.

For me the one size dipes are nice because they work towards the end of potty training for me. However...now Im wondering if I should just get some medium FB's. Decisions decisions!!

I think that everyone has a different opinion on this, but here's my take, in a nutshell... I'm sure people will have more to add, but This is just my quick overview.

Prefolds -

Pros: cheap. easy to launder.
Cons: folding. pinning. need a cover. wetness stays on baby's skin.

Fitteds -

Pros: super absorbent. TONS of cute prints.
Cons: Need a cover to be completely waterproof.

Pockets -

Pros: can stuff to your required absorbency, come apart for easier washing and faster drying, waterproof.
Cons: need to stuff them. Some babies are sensitive to suedecloth and/or microfiber which are commonly used in pockets.

AIOs -

Pros: very simple to use.
Cons: long drying time. The absorbent layers can be tough to get clean and/or cling to detergent, causing buildup.

I think if pocket dipes are working for you, then you should stick with that.

As for Types. I'm sure there are plenty of websites to break it down for you, but I don't have any links.

Here is my take on it.

With fitteds, the benefit is that you can control the material going right up against the baby's skin. You can use all natural cottons or bamboo's. You still need a cover but you don't have to worry about pinning or using a snappi with these because they go on like a regular diaper. You can get these with snaps or Aplix. I always recommend Snaps.

I think for the NB stage, I prefer all natural materials like cotton against the baby's skin. This is what I recommend. You never know if your baby is going to have a sensitivity to polyester.

With Pockets diapers you've got polyester up against the baby's skin. Some baby's are allergic.

another benefit to fitteds, prefolds, wraps..You can wash them separately from the covers. If your baby gets a rash and you need to use a cream, it's easier to strip them or use a bit of bleach. If you baby gets a yeast rash, you can use a bit of bleach...just a bit. and then rinse , rinse , rinse...You really can't do that with Pocket dipes because of all the cute colors and prints.

Last but not least...

Fitteds, prefolds, wraps...this is cheaper then doing Pocket, AIO's and AI2's. Don't get me wrong...some fitteds can get pricey, especially when you start buying the dyed, Hemp bamboo stuff, but generally speaking, it's the most economical way to go.

Thank you I much prefer reading peoples personal opinions on these types of things rather than how most websites break things down.

Fitteds

Pro: cute prints, thinner on my dd, more breathable imo
Con: not waterproof, can go without but need to be careful of leaks

AIOs

Pros: all together, no need for covers, snappis
Cons: take awhile to dry, but I line dry for a day so it doesn't matter to me on the drying time

Pockets

Pros: can choose amount of absorbancy, perfect for us at night time
Cons: STUFFING drives me crazy these days

Covers

Pros: Cheaper
Cons: Need a prefold or fitted underneath

Prefolds

Pros: Cheaper, fast drying time
Cons: Need a cover, may need a snappi or pins

These are just based on what I have used/noticed, may be different for others thou.

I love AIOs for outtings, pockets for night, fitteds at home, prefolds for stuffing and my embroidered covers for cuteness HTH
