What size/kind of prefold do you recommend for a 25-30ish pound toddler? I want it to be big enough to pin/snappy. We will be spending many days camping this summer and I figure those would be easier to hand wash than aio's or pocket inserts. Also I like that they are more breathable in the hot summer and most of the time unless we are swimming he will probably be running around in a diaper without a cover. Thanks for any suggestions
It all depends on how he/she is built. DS1 has a little heiny. Even though he's over 3 and wears 4T pants, he wear 2T underwear. He's about 35-38 pounds and can still wear a medium PF (just barely). He's potty trained, but I tried one on him for fun and it fit. I'm not sure what brand they are; they were handed down to me.
He is kind of in the stocky toddler stage right now lol. BG aio's he is in a size large but not sure how much longer, FB size large the waist snaps are as tight as they will go but the thigh snaps are on the 2nd from the biggest snap. His flip covers he is on the 3rd from the last snap on each side for waist and 2nd for thigh. He has thick thighs. He is 25lbs/32" tall right now at 15months old so he is going to start losing some of his baby fat I am sure, I just want to make sure whatever I get I can pin it. Absorbency, well I am not looking for anything to last for hours/overnight, if he doesn't have a cover on I will know when he wets so he will be changed immediately.
Right, I just don't even know what prefolds are "good" though and which ones to stay away from. I am thinking I should get toddler size but it seems like they all come in the 4-8-4, and I really really don't think we need anything that absorbent since he will be changed immediately. Little lions has some in their clearance section that are 4-6-4 but I know nothing about Little Lions and their prefolds!
I've heard good things about Little Lions, I have a strong suspicion that the majority of prefolds come from the same place and are just labeled as whatever brand..

I currently use Green Mountain Diapers red edge prefolds on my 21 lb 11 month old with no problem. She has chunky thighs and they seem to fit no problem. With my oldest, I used premium sized prefolds from Nicki's Diapers. They are a little longer than the red edge ones but the same absorbency. I always trifolded those on dd1 so I don't know how they worked with a Snappi.
Sam is 2.5yrs old, 32lbs and 38in... so very tall and not too big and he still fits in the Bummis 15-40lbs with no issues there. I dont use snappis anymore cuz its hard with his size, but pins work great or even trifolding
