DH and I were talking about after my maternity leave is up who will help out... The father in law said that he will since he's already watching my 3 month old nephew... I'm so scared to tell them that we are going to decide to do cloth diapering let alone him watching our baby....
I think it would just be easier for me to use sposies when he watches our chickpea.....
(ps... there's a history of why I'm petrified of going "out of the norm" with the in laws...)

Maybe you could compromise and use a hybrid like a Grovia with the disposable inserts when he watches the baby?

When you're ready to broach the subject with them, bring an AIO or a stuffed pocket to show them and a wet bag. Be prepared for some opposition, but plainly explain that he'll need to do no more than he would with a sposie. Take off the dirty one, put it in the wet bag instead of the garbage, put on a clean one. Done!

when you bring up the subject with them, make sure you have diapers with you to show them! I know that people who I have spoken to have been a bit O_o about cloth diapering, have relaxed about it when they've actually SEEN what cloth diapers are like these days.

I do agree that a compromise could be to use something with a disposable insert

Yup like everyone else said definitely have one to show him. all my naysayers have been amazed when they actually saw my cd's. And just tell him, we are using cloth.

If HE wants to buy sposies, well then...I would let him as long as it didn't give your baby a rash..but no way would I buy them.

My friend is in an almost similar situation. She uses one kind of diaper and her mom, who watches her girl, doesn't like it. Their compromise is they each buy the diaper they like, or the mom can use the ones my friend buys...and this is just sposies. So unless your dad has the money to spend I'm pretty sure he'll eventually come around. But I understand how you would be nervous, my mom still won't learn how to use a CD.

Thanks ladies... I just have to muster the courage... I just feel like they are going to think that I'm crazy..... I figure that since my nephew is in sposie it would just be easier that we have him use sposies when he watches our bean... I was told that he didn't change diapers for his own kids and that he just changed my nephew for the first time and put on the diaper backwards.... oh my..... then adding the mix of here is our bean too but we are using cloth instead... I maybe working myself up for nothing but we shall see.....

All the better that he only just started changing diapers, that means he isn't stuck in some sort of routine. Use your diapers, he'll figure it out.
