A customer got a couple of bamboo fitteds and she's just posted on our FB page, saying they are giving her little guy diaper rash.. she's only had them about a week, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I'm wondering if it's possible for the natural oils in bamboo to cause irritation, if the diaper isn't prepped properly - ie if she ignored the advice we gave and put the diaper on straight away, could that cause the irritation?????

IS allergy to bamboo very common?

could it be the detergent she is using? maybe it didnt all get out properly before using the diaper?

ive not heard of anyone being allergic to bamboo, but im sure it is possible that he could be....

also has she used natural fibres before? im just wondering if shes always used something stay dry her little guy might be reacting from the moisture close to his skin? if i dont use a fleece liner at night in his fitteds Ross will sometimes get a bit of a rash from having the pee sitting right next to his skin all night as he sleeps

what other kinds of diapers is she using that don't give a rash - if they are stay dry's like mentioned above, it could be a wetness rash, or it could be a detergent sensitivity - bamboo is so absorbant it will hold onto everything more - pee, detergent, etc. HAS to be rinsed A LOT! But well worth it in the long run

Or, it could be an allergy, you never know! Kaiden can't have hemp next to his skin or he gets a rash. Dry is fine, but wet - gives him a rash.

I was going to ditto Anne. Bamboo is super dense. You really have to make sure the detergent fully rinses.

Most bamboo has polyester in the backing so it could be a polyester sensitivity too. Just another idea, all the others mentioned are more likely the problem.

I'll agree with everyone else. It's likely it's a detergent issue, since it will stay in the bamboo more than in the synthetic fibers. HOWEVER, like Kaiden, Max can't wear hemp next to his skin, and he does have issues with bamboo next to his skin if I don't change him immediately. I always use a stay dry liner over natural fibers with him to keep rashes away. I think it's becuase it absorbs a ton, but keeps the wetness against the babies skin. If changing her detergent or rinsing better doesn't fix it, I'd suggest she try a stay dry liner on top of it.
