I think another part of it is that it's always going to be very, very difficult for JM to compete with Facebook. They aren't even on the same level. The Facebook budget is, I'm sure, exponentially larget than the budget for JM as there are millions more users. Really, I think the onus falls on the members to make the effort to keep JM alive. No one wants to see it turn into a ghost town or disappear altogether, so we need to do our best to ensure that it doesn't. I'm confident the JM tech team is doing all they can to get the best mobile solution possible and improve technology of the site, but with a limited budget, there is always going to be lag

As a host, we are required to post a certain amount of times per week. They actually suggest we post "prompted" threads. We can only come up with so many ideas, and I try my best to post random threads that aren't "prompted", but it is REALLY hard, especially if the host has been doing it for a while. We can't please everyone.

. I bet if JM just had a good mobile version of the forums website, making it easy to browse and post without all the junk in the header and sidebar and so on, it would help people get on the boards from their phones a whole lot.
I don't really agree with this. My only available internet is on my phone so I turned off icon pictures and siggy's and jm loads just as fast as any other site. Granted, I do have an android phone with 3g coverage, but were getting to a point where everyone is going to have that anyway.

I do agree about not really liking facebook groups. It seems li ke too many people leave jm then.

It's not that it loads slowly so much as it is hard to read. Many sites like merchant sites, news sites, FB, google, blogs, etc etc have a mobile version that is simplified and easier to read on a phone. JM doesn't, you get the full website and have to zoom around and stuff. That's all I'm talking about.

I feel like I am being treated like some kind of JM hater despite being totally anti FB and pro JM. I believe if JM made it free and easy to view, post, and be active in the forums from a phone, it would really increase the activity of the forums. The *main* reason I see people stop posting is because the website is hard to read on a phone and the app costs money if you want to post/respond.

I think posting about this issue can help the tech/admin side respond to the problems. After all they did add the Like button which so many people were requesting. (Not that you can use it from the app of course.) It seems more sensible to speak up about improvements we want in the user experience rather than just assume they are mind readers. I have a harder and harder time lately getting to a real computer and do everything on my phone now so I am really trying to make it work for me and just asking for the improvements that would help me be more active more easily.

I don't want to say anything more about it since I do believe I have been as clear and constructive as possible. I don't want to feel attacked just because I'm actually trying to SAY what is wrong and figure out what could make it work, instead of just leaving like most people do.
