DH came home with a giant tub of Sun Oxygen Cleaner yesterday. I'm guessing it's similar to OxiClean, but I've never used either of them. Since I still haven't solved the slightly musty smell in my diapers, I was thinking of trying a little in my next load. Anybody use it? What part of the cycle do you add it? How much do you use?

Here's my current wash routine:
1. Short warm wash with 2 Tbsp Tide and 1/4 cup baking soda
2. Long hot wash with Tide (scoop to 1 line)
3. Short warm wash - no additives
(all washes followed with cold rinses)

I use oxyclean to strip. I also put just a little in my hot wash with the detergent when I have a poopy diaper in the wash.

I use Sun. It's really good! Just an "off" brand of OxiClean. I have a front loader, and I just put mine in the same section that I put the detergent in, or I just put it right in the drum depending on if I'm using liquid or powder detergent.

My machine has a lever thingy that you slide over that increases and decreases the size of the hole the detergent runs out of the dispenser. If I put it on the "liquid" setting but put powder in it by mistake, not all of the detergent will dissolve and make it into the drum. So, if I use liquid detergent I put the Sun in the drum, but if I'm using powdered detergent I put it in the dispenser. Does that make sense? Either way, it gets put in right at the start b/c the detergent is sprayed in at the beginning.

I always use a full scoop, but so far I've only used it on dish towels, bath towels, and DH's work clothes. I haven't had a problem or any issues with fading or anything so far.

Check the ingredients, pure powder form oxygen bleach should be only sodium percarbonate and some sodium carbonate as an activator. I think Sun Oxy is good.

I would add it to your main wash. The hot water will dissolve and activate it better. It is a good disinfectant but can cause excess wear and fading like bleach can, except without any bleachy odors or residues. I love it in hard water but not in soft water.

I put OxyClean in every time I wash. I put it in when I add the detergent.

I use oxiclean in every single wash. It may be slightly harder on my diapers than not, but they smell great and have no stains, not even on the EBF baby's diapers.

I use it on all of our regular clothes. Helps a lot! I've used it for stripping with soaking overnight. I've put some in a load of diapers recently, but wasn't as impressed by it then.
