I got in some alva diapers from goodseller_003 on eBay. They looked perfect, still wrapped in plastic, and I was excited to use them. I washed them and put one on my baby and the rise snaps are broken! They look fine, but they do not snap together. I'm so bummed! I contacted the seller to see if they can be replaced. Has this happened to anyone else's alvas or am I the only unlucky one?

Awww that totally sucks!! I bought once from the ebay seller and once from their actual website with no issues. Hopefully they work something out for you!

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but how experienced a diaper user are you? I'm not familiar with Alva's in particular, but one-size diapers usually have 2 or 3 rows of sockets and one row of studs that snaps into the desired row. I could see someone not familiar with diapers trying to snap two socket rows together instead of the stud row into a row of sockets and thinking that something was wrong, especially if you bought on ebay and were a little nervous about being taken advantage of.
Of course, they very well might be broken, and hopefully contacting the seller or Alva directly would result in replacement diapers being sent.

I've heard it's not terribly uncommon with the Alva/Sunbaby/Etc type diapers. I'd imagine they just don't have as good of quality control. What's broken about them? Do the snaps just not hold together? If that's the case, you may be able to fix them easily. Look at the socket of the snap (the female end). The picture below shows a snap pressed correctly (blue one) and one not pressed enough (red). If yours look like the red one, see if you can find anything to smash that part with.
If you can't get them to replace the defective diapers or fix them yourself, let me know. I have a snap press and way more snaps than I'll ever use. If you cover shipping, I can take care of the snaps for you if you don't mind white snaps.

It's that they don't hold together. I'll take a look at the snaps more closely and see if this is something I can handle myself. I bought six, and so far I've found two that do this. They are both the same print so maybe it was a bad batch.
Update: After comparing them to your pictures, they look like a diferent kind of snap. Still, they look like same as ones that work on the other diapers. They just don't firmly snap. I have to force them together and even then they pop back off. I'm contacting the seller.

I don't have any Alvas, but this is a very standard snap. I would be very surprised if they use anything too different. From what you're describing, I think its very likely the snaps weren't applied with enough pressure. I would contact the seller first. If they don't take care of it, Alva might, but then you have to deal with the slow shipping.

Some snaps are just defective and don't work right from the beginning. I've had a few garments and items other than diapers that had this happen.
I hope the seller gets back to you and you are able to get them fixed. Sounds like you just got a bad batch.

if they are hard to force together, and pop apart easily, they were not applied to the diaper with enough force. My first attempts with hand snap pliers, lots of the snaps are like that. But, now I have a really cool snap press and don't have that issue anymore. I have used my snap press on the snaps I didn't apply good enough with snap pliers and gotten them to work now. I'll also offer the same thing as Shannon - I can either try to fix the existing snaps or put new ones on there (next to the old ones) if you cover shipping.

Yup, they're just not pressed enough. The center part should be more smashed than that.

I'm waiting for the seller to contact me.. Is there a way I can fix these myself without buying anything? If the seller doesn't help me, I'll be taking you up on your offer! So nice!

I had a wonky snap once that did not want to press flat. I used this little metal cylinder I found in the garage. I have no idea what it's supposed to be for, but I found it in DH's tools. I stuck that in the snap and tapped it lightly with a hammer a few times. It was just enough to make the snap able to, well, snap. Maybe you can find something similar?

Where in MA are you located? I have snap press and white snaps. We can fix it quickly and probably faster than dealing with ebay. I live on the MA/NH border but work down by Worcester.
