I have about 5 or 6 diapers that will work for a newborn, then 20 or 30 OS and Medium diapers..
Since we're going to be using cloth from the start, I need to find a good pocket or AIO diaper that doesn't cost much and will work from birth. We're thinking he'll be 6 1/2-7lbs at birth.
I despise prefolds.. I just really don't like them, so they aren't an option.
Anyone have any experience with cheaper diapers that work for 6lbs up until OS diapers would fit?

I just got a whole bunch of assorted stuff on diaper swappers I averaged $8 a dipe anything from BG newborn aio's to HH and FB xs and gdiapers. I also have some prefolds and covers that I am planning to try cautiously as I havent had a good time with them in the past, but they came free from a friend.

If you aren't against using preloved diapers, I would look on DiaperSwappers and on the FSOT board here, there are always newborn diapers floating around

I did check diaperswappers earlier, but seemed that everyone had already sold 99% of their diapers or everyone and their mom was already interested in buying them. Right now I'm trying to stay under $100. We're going to get a deal at a site my mom found and my mom plans on grabbing a few dipes, so I only need about 4 more.. Hopefully under $30-40 if possible.

Can you sew? Here is a link to my blog about making newborn diapers: The Reverend's Lady: Makin' Stuff for the Baby: Newborn Diapers
It includes a fuzzibunz pattern. I sewed my entire newborn stash for around $60.
If I didn't make my own, I would have bought alva baby or sunbaby diapers.

I'm due tomorrow and I just ordered some BG aio's on thursday. They are currently at the PO because I forgot to go pick them up yesterday morning so you have time to keep looking. Use the advanced search and search newborn and PM people, they usually don't check their threads that much.
Also Nanasbottoms was mentioned earlier, if you arent picky about fabrics, you can order a grab bag of 2 newborn aio's for 20.00 they will be brand new you just won't know exactly what you are getting. You do get to pick boy/girl/neutral.

I got all my Lil Joey's off DiaperSwappers. It took some time, but I ended up with about 14, which worked great (washing daily) for the 1 week I needed them. I don't think I ever spent more than $8 a diaper on newborn diapers.

Are you on Facebook? There are a few KangaCare/Rumparoo/Lil Joey groups that sell them, you might check that out. Or just search for whatever brand of diaper you are interested in, and there will probably be a b/s/t group for it.
Check in the AIo/AI2 group in DiaperSwappers. I just found 2 listings for Newborn diapers on the first page One lady had for 4 XS GroVia AIOs for $45

I just had my baby and he was 7lb 5 oz. The only thing that fits him now is the Lil Joeys. I have 2 BG XS to try once his cord falls off. I also have a small Kawaii and Thirsties size 1 that still won't fit well for a little bit. My friend Kim (Cloth by Kim on FB) sells NB pockets for $6.50 without the insert or add the insert for $1 more. I've just been cutting my BG infant inserts to fit them, but you do have to finish the two raw edges after you cut them. They won't fit my baby quite yet, but will soon.
