Hi, I have a 12lb, 3 month old baby girl. We just ordered a Disana wool cover and Kissaluv one size fitted contour diapers for overnight use. I lanolized the wool cover 2x and attempted to felt it in the crotch area both times (rubbing the wet wool between hands inside and outside of cover - I rubbed for probably about 5 minutes each time). I tried the whole get up on her last night - Kissaluv and wool cover - and found the (washed 2x) Kissaluvs were pretty big, but seemed doable and the cover to be a bit big as well, but not over large. She wore it overnight and everything was soaked in the morning - her swaddling blanket, co-sleeper cover and mattress sheet. What am I doing wrong?

sounds to me like you certainly lanolized it enough.... My guess would be that there wasn't enough absorbency in the actual diaper??? Or if it is a bit big, that urine was leaking out of the legs or waist of the diaper ... woolen covers are GREAT, but they're only as good as the diaper beneath them.

If the wool is covering the entirety of the diaper, yes you need more absorbency! Try laying in a trifolded newborn prefold in the contour, I'm sure that will be plenty of absorbency. They also may not have been prepped enough, lots of natural fibers need 5+ washes to function well and 10+ to reach full absorbency. Hth!

Thanks, you guys. I think the Kissaluv one size is just too big right now leaving too much room for leaks. I'm going to lanolize the cover one more time and spend some more time felting it in the back as thats where all the moisture goes when a little girl sleeps on her back. I'll go back to the prefolds for now until she grows into the Kissaluvs a bit better. I'll add a soaker and hopefully that will cure the problem. Thanks again!

I've never needed to felt a wool soaker much or lanolize it more than once for the cover to work. I would definitely agree with the other ladies, that it is much more likely your diaper does not have enough absorbancy, the diaper is too large and/or the cover is too large and it is leaking past.
