I'm starting this a bit late, but better late than never, right?

Let's chat! You can talk about whatever you want to, it doesn't have to be about diapers. Tell us about your day/week! Is anything bugging you or going wrong right now? Are you just bored and want to talk? Shout out, we'd love to hear from you!

I'll start. We've had our ups and downs this week so far. We found some great savings at the grocery store on Sunday so we got a bunch of fresh fruits and vegetables, which is awesome.

On the way home we stopped at the feed store and picked up 8 chicks to add to the 5 that our hen hatched out between Friday and Sunday. She is being a great mom raising all 13. It's really fun to watch them. This is my first time having a hen raise chicks, so it is an adventure!

On Monday our puppy turned 12 weeks old, so I put some flea drops on him b/c we live in the country and our pets get fleas. The next day he got REALLY sick from them and almost died. It was REALLY bad. Thankfully he is one of the lucky ones and pulled through, but there are SO many that aren't that lucky. Please do not use Hartz flea products. If you don't believe me, just google "Hartz side effects" to find out for yourself. What we went through was terrifying.

On Tuesday we got a new riding lawn mower, though, which is great! We've lived here for a little over a year, and we live on 5 acres, ~1-1.5 of which we mow, and up until now we have had to push mow it, which SUCKED! Now I get to strap on a bikini top, hop on that bad boy, listen to my ipod, and get a tan while I putter around the yard. haha!!

Last summer we had some cats show up at our house. Come to find out they belonged to the next neighbor down the road, but he pretty much abandoned them and stopped feeding them. I have been feeding them, but we can't afford much more than that. Well, the female got pregnant and had a litter of 5 kittens. They are 6 weeks old, super friendly, litter trained, etc, and I'm trying to find homes for them for 2 weeks from now when they turn 8 weeks old. I'm asking $15 for each of them, all of which will go to get mama cat spayed. Well, you would think I was asking $1000 for them, b/c people ONLY want free kittens. *sigh* Hopefully someone will come along and want them.

Sorry to hear about your puppy!!! So glad he's okay!! We couldn't use Hartz either, it wasn't that bad but it was 3 weeks of diarrhea after each dose. Took 2 doses to realize that was the culprit. Never used it on any of our other dogs after that one.

Super incredibly busy here - we just reno'd our kitchen - it didn't really need an update per say but it needed major structual work (century+ old house!!). Wasn't horribly expensive since we re-used all our cabinets/countertop/appliances but we did have to completely gut the room to get at the structure. But, now it's mostly done except for the bulkhead above the cabinets (doing that this weekend), getting new flooring & wood trim.

So, now that THAT's mostly done today I'm getting back to sewing, my shop's very low on inventory and I missed sewing so bad!!

For Kody, he had violent seizures that he would scream through every 1-2 minutes for 12 hours straight, paralysis in his rear legs and no real control over the rest of his body, loss of bladder control, unresponsive (except for a half an hour period in the middle), etc. It was terrible.

I'm glad you are almost done with your kitchen!! You should share pics!! I love that kind of stuff. I want to paint the walls, paint the cabinets, and put in new counter tops in our kitchen. I like it otherwise.

What are you going to sew? What kind of things do you sell?

Hartz is the devil...glad your puppy is okay.

DH is at annual training for the national guard...can't wait until he gets to come home and we can go back to our regular routine...which won't be until the 15th. But they might let them have the day off on Sunday. Most likely but nothing is official yet.

M needs to wake up, it's after 6pm here and I want her to fall asleep well tonight!!! I wish I could do an earlier bedtime with her but DH has a long commute and doesn't get home until almost 7pm.

Country life sounds grand and I love how you have so many animals. We have a decent garden here and M loves to eat dirt and explore the yard. And just one cat who is terrified of her because she SHRIEKS whenever she sees him. In Mississippi we had tons of space, over an acre but it was always so yucky outside with bugs and heat, it's almost always gorgeous weather here in California, we are spoiled.

Thanks. I hope your DH gets to have the day off on Sunday! Then, the 15th will be here before you know it.

We've always done late bedtimes here also. It's hard with working parents and you want to spend time together.

I love living in the country, having so much room, and PRIVACY! I would love to eventually have a big garden and grow a lot of our food, but my chickens free range so I need to figure out how to keep them out of it. At the very least, that will probably mean a fence around the garden, and we can't afford that atm. *pout*

I love living here in Missouri b/c the winters are much milder than they were in Nebraska, it only snowed here twice this last winter, only an inch or two each time, and it all melted the next day. The winter before at our old house, we had an 8 foot snow drift across our back yard for almost two months straight!! Even still, the summers aren't too bad. It gets really hot for about a month, but otherwise it isn't terrible. So far this year we have only turned our air conditioner on twice, and that was only to remove the humidity from the air. The people that have lived here their whole lives can't believe it. They are sweltering already. lol

Haha we are so spoiled after Mississippi. I am now "too hot" if it's above 75. And "too cold" if it's below 60. It's like my years in Boston and the Deep South are completely forgotten and I've been a northern California weenie my whole life. It is 65-70 with morning fog clearing to sun, with a light breeze, every frickin day here. It is great but turns people into the most pathetic complainers. "Ew, it's windy!" Boston was like, "the wind is blowing tiny sharp ice fog particles into my eyes as I walk to work when it's 10 degrees out, but THAT'S LIFE BUDDY."

LOL! That's funny b/c in the summer we set our a/c to 75, and in the winter we sleep with it set to 60, during the day it's 64. I'm too hot if it is over about 85 or so, I can stand it until then. Give me a fan and shade, and I'm good. People here complain of rain a lot, but then I think of the places in the US that get rain almost every day.

The only thing that sucks about rain here, especially if we get a lot of it, is that we live in the foothills of the Ozark mountains, so the roads are twisty turny, and some get really low over creeks. If we get too much rain the water goes over the road, and we can't get anywhere. Last year, about a month after we moved in, it rained HEAVY for two weeks straight without a break, and DS's school was shut down for over a week b/c the bus couldn't get to the kids. We couldn't go anywhere b/c there was no way out that wasn't covered in water. It was a good thing we had just stocked up on food b/c otherwise we would have started to eat each other. LOL!

Our puppy is doing so much better, he is back to his old self without much lasting effects from what happened. The only thing he really has left, is when he was seizing his ears, which normally flop over, stood straight out. Now, one of his ears is back to its normal floppy self, but one still stands straight up. LOL Also, if he is sitting in my lap, occasionally he will slightly rock back and forth. Not too bad, though, and we can live with those things. I'm just glad that it didn't seem to affect his personality at all, and none of the paralysis remained permanent, which we read could have been a possibility.

I found a home for one of the kittens. Of course my favorite one (and the one I was secretly hoping to keep ) was the first to get claimed. One person texted me, and when I texted him/her back they never replied. Today someone else texted saying they were interested in our orange tabby and asked about his personality, and when I told them they never replied. *sigh*

It's Mothers Day here, so HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to everyone! Neither of my girls are with me for the day, so it's kind of just a typical Sunday for me... minus the fact i have a pounding headache and an achy jaw... oh the joys

I had such a great day today. DH, Kate and I went to cape cod and walked along the canal. It's so gorgeous. The sun was bright and the tempeture was perfect, high seventies with a cool breeze from the salt water. Kate slept in the stroller the whole time. One the way home we stopped for soft serve ice cream. Perfect day! Happy mothers day everyone!

The IL's are supposed to be coming some time this weekend, I have to assume tomorrow since we didn't hear from them today . . .

Still working on the inventory for the shop, that will be all this week.

We did a ton of yard work today also. DH finally got our "new" riding mower working, so he mowed all of our grass today, and it looks SO nice! There were parts that were so tall b/c our push mower broke down that they came up to DH's shoulder when he was sitting on the mower. LMAO Now our yard looks like a golf course!

When we got done our broody hen insisted on being let out of the chicken tractor where we have been keeping her and her chicks during the day, and she took her chicks out for their first walk around the yard. It was SO cute to watch!! One of the other chickens tried to come up to the chicks, and mama hen viciously attacked her. It was impressive to see her so protective of her babies.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! It has been beautiful out all this week, so for the past two days I have sat outside all day long. Today I broke out my bikini and sat out and got a tan.

If only they made anti-flip flops, so I can get rid of my dang flip flop tan. lol

They do make anti flip flops. It's called barefoot!!! Lol.

My friend and her little boy are here it is a lot of fun. And magically they are on similar schedules so it has been really easy. They play together well so we don't have to do much to occupy them. Except he has these luscious curls that M keeps pulling she still doesn't have enough hair to know how much it hurts!

She is pretty well conked out now after nursing down on me, hopefully the transfer to her bed goes well. I am exhausted and ready for bed myself...

But if I just go barefoot, then the tan part just gets more tan, and the not tan part can't catch up. LOL

Oh, did I mention that bug spray makes awesome tanning oil, since it is shiny? LMAO Since we have chickens that poop everywhere, and live next to a cow pasture, the flies are TERRIBLE here, and they drive me nuts when they land on my legs, so I put bug spray on when I'm going to do more than go in and out.

Today was a great day. I slept in, then we grilled out, then finished mowing off our yard since we didn't get it all done last weekend when we fixed our new riding mower. Now everything that we want mowed is done, and all we have to do is upkeep.

Now, I'm drinking a beer and have started tallying up the points for the posting challenge. Boy, what a chore that is! LMAO
