I just knew this was going to happen. I hate stay dry fabrics, they always end up repelling for me. My prefolds, elementals and bamboo diapers are all fine but those with the polyester lining are repelling. I have 3 sunbabies, 1 kawaii and 1 rumparoo that all have that polyester stay dry lining (fleece i guess) and they are repelling. All of my inserts are bamboo, cotton, hemp or a blend of these. All of the inserts are doing fine but its got to soak through the lining to get to the insert.

Im guessing it has to do with detergent build up. I recently got a HE washer and it is a pain to get it to use enough water. I know they are rinsing though, because i always rinse twice at the end and i check in the 2nd rinse to make sure their arent any bubbles.

What do i need to do to get rid of the repelling? ive only been using the sunbabies for about 2 months and the other 2 less than a month and they are repelling already. I need to buy more elementals but they are so expensive its taking a while for me to get them.

Have you tried stripping them with Dawn? That would be the first thing I tried.

Is your washer a FL or a TL? With a FL, I've heard you can trick it into using more water by getting a bath towel wet and putting it in the washing machine when you put your diapers in. The weight tricks the machine into thinking their is more in there, so it will add more water.

I hope someone else comes along with some ideas.

I agree with the stripping..I started having a lot of funky buildup and repelling issues and I finally tried dawn dishsoap..First I did my regular wash routine of a full cold wash followed by a full hot wash..followed by another hot wash with only dawn..and another full wash no detergent or dawn to rinse really well..it took a while but I only had to do it once and now my diapers don't stink or repel..I have a few that didnt make it in with that load that are still giving me problems but we've got a seperate pail for those so I can strip them when I need to..

I use Dawn in my HE FL, and it fills completely with suds, but nothing has happened to it.
