I am a chronic buyer-seller. So I am often getting diapers off DS or Hyena Cart. And of course, when people list stuff, they list it according to what they see as the condition. And it continues to shock me how differently people evaluate said condition.
I have gotten diapers described as EUC that are clearly barely GUC. And I have gotten diapers in "used" condition that have been pretty darn near EUC.
So how about you...what makes the difference to you. Does EUC contain ANY flaws? What constitutes "good" condition and where is the line for "very good?"
Just Wondering (for the record, the dipes I got today were listed in "used" condition "with plenty of life left" and besides two holes, ala elementals, in two of the five diapers...they are perfect! I was delighted )
I agree. I bought a dozen BG 3.0s off Craigslist, and she said they were in great condition. When I got home, in reality the hook and loop was pretty much shot, the belly strip was falling off on some of them, and the laundry tabs were useless. Also, they weren't even waterproof anymore! The PUL was completely shot. I didn't complain, though, b/c I only paid $25 for all 12 of them, but I doubt I will even use them. Maybe as backup fitteds in desperate situations, but that's it.

I agree with Shannon. Those labels are so subjective, and it is completely up to a persons interpretation of what that means to them, and what it means to them doesn't necessarily mean the same to the next person, or the next, etc.

honestly i have never bought used diapers and dont plan to but this is good to know for selling. I do buy and sell used kids clothing and everyone has their own idea of conditions. I always try to list as a little worse than it actually is, id rather have the buyer be happy surprised than sad surprised when they get the item.

I usually avoid the labels and just describe the item in as much detail and with as many pictures as possible. I've gotten diapers described as play condition in better condition than diapers described as VGUC/EUC. To me EUC means no stains or holes and basically looking and functioning as new. GUC to me can include some minor stains and wear but still fully functioning. VGUC would kind of be in between the two... like a diaper that has little to no wear and functions as new but maybe has a very small light stain on it. Play condition to me is major staining and lots of wear but still usable.
I think that anything that functions properly is good condition. I don't care about stains, because my kid is just going to crap on it. I am not wearing it to church or anything.
However when selling diapers I do not label them as excellent unless the look brand new, VGUC would be like some pilling on the fleece etc, and good is maybe a tad stained.
I also tend to just give a detailed description. Like how much use they've had, how old they are, any signs of wear or imperfections. And when I buy I look hard for descriptions like when they were bought and how much use they've had. I saw a lot of 4-5 year old ME fitteds on DS that the mom said had been through 2 kids and made up 1/2 of her whole stash but were "EUC"... um, no way!!!! Lol
I agree! It's so hard to know! I do think that EUC is pretty darn near brand new looking, though. Otherwise, I just find labels confusion. I try to write out an explanation, note any wear or any marks or flaws.

Also, I ask lots of questions and will not buy anything used without pictures.

Thanks to the awesome Rachel for my siggy!
For me EUC would be looking brand new/barely used but opened/washed/and worn a few times.
GUC would show some ware perhaps a bit of staining, and definitely look used but be completely functional with good velcro/snaps and elastic.
Anything less I would consider play condition or list with plenty of life left. I would also when selling diapers explain/picture every little flaw as you want the buyer to be fully aware of what they are getting.

I try and give pictures and describe any flaws- I'm not good at the EUC, GUC..and then with goodmamas there is this whole other logo as they start to get worn lol

Yes! I see a crazy variety of "EUC". Yesterday i got a diaper that looks like new.... but then my son peed in it the smell that came out of that thing could drop a horse!
If it's used but doesn't have detailed pictures I will probably just pass on by unless it's something I REALLY want, in which case I might ask more questions on the condition or ask for more pictures.
Nowadays I'm only really buying things NIP or EUC because I like to wear them out myself lol!

I have a hard time with the whole "EUC"/"GUC" thing. I much prefer pictures and real details of condition than a subjective title.
I don't do the EUC/GUC/etc either. When I sell I take lots of close up, detailed pictures and describe the diapers - good elastic, a small snag, a stain, whatever. I want my buyers to know exactly what they are buying so there are no surprises or sadness when the diapers show up.
I won't buy used unless there are pictures and the seller communicates with me and is willing to take more pictures or answer my questions about details. If that's too much trouble I'll usually just pass and look for something else.

that is one thing i hate about buying online..i bought some diapers online once and was told GREAT used condition. Got them and they were all ripped up inside and NOT even near ok condition. i could not even use them they were seriously ripped apart with holes and such. I was pretty ticked off to say the least
now if i buy used its from craigslist or consignment shops and i look inside and out very well before handing over the cash. i wont buy online anymore because of that.

OMG! (haven't read all the responses yet) but I have sworn off buying used so many times because of this!! I typically only sell (and buy) VVGUC or EUC diapers. I have had so many EUC diapers that I wouldn't have even called VGUC nevermind VVG. So I swore off buying used....and I bought 4 NEW diapers and 2 of them were used!! One was not only used, it was aplix converted to snaps! I realize mistakes happen, but ***.
I've had EUC come with holes in them and stains. It drives me nuts and has turned me off buying used so much.
