I have a bunch of Sunbabies on the way that will come with one insert each. I had bought two (one for each twin - brand new) off eBay to try out while waiting. Well it wasn't pretty. They both wore through about an hour or so nap, probably two hours total wear. They were both wet through to their clothes. My son was soaked and my daughter was damp. I assume the inserts are the issue so I need advice in what to use. I have some charcoal bamboo inserts on order but I won't see those for a while...

Should I go the bamboo insert route? Any suggestions on brands?

If I use a bamboo during the day what would I use at night?

If you know of a US company I can order from (with a coupon code if possible) that would be great so I don't have to wait a long time for the shipment. Plus, I plan in ordering cloth wipes and will do so in the same order

Tx!!

Well, I don't know anything about Sunbabies specifically. When they wet through the diaper, was the insert sautrated? I'm going to assume so. One microfiber insert at nap time would definitely not have been enough for my son at 9 months

I would stick to bamboo or hemp inserts, if you have the option. I'll often double up and do one microfiber on top of a bamboo or hemp inserts. The microfiber is actually nice becuase it absorbs quickly, but the natural layer underneath absorbs a lot MORE. They work together!

I also love to use prefolds to stuff diapers. The price is great and they are really absorbent.

Tiffany (who is a member here) over at Fluffy Cheeks has some hemp inserts/doublers in her shop. Hemp is SUPER absorbent!! She offers free shipping and 10% off to JM mommies. Use the code JMFRIEND.

I would imagine it's due to the fact you only used one insert.... I'd try again with two inserts, OR with a bamboo/hemp insert. I hope you get it figured out quickly!

Are the prefolds made of bamboo? I think there was a brand called Imagine or something that someone raved about. I had them in an online shopping cart somewhere lol.

Don't you usually only use one insert? They'll be sitting in pillows with two lol.

Thanks for the code! Next time I get in the computer I'll check it out.

I have the old style sunbaby and just know that long inserts bunch up in there which causes a leak. I generally just use 1 microfiber and have no leak problems though.

we have sunbabies but i got the bamboo inserts with them not the microfiber. My daughter can nap in her sunbabies without any problem but i wouldnt use them for night time.
I think you could use any type of insert you want. Ive stuffed ours with infant prefolds trifolded, and inserts from other brand diapers. Ive found bamboo to be very absorbent. Some people like microfiber but ive always had issues with it holding stink.
You could always use more than one insert but that will make it very bulky.

Id also try doubling up the inserts..or trying prefolds as inserts--I use C's GMD orange edge prefolds to stuff pockets.

i prefer bamboo or hemp inserts. Pad folded flats work well too.

I bought some hemp inserts and some hemp doublers to try. I want to try inserts before going the prefolds route. Hopefully these will work...
