Does anyone here use a menstrual cup (lunette, diva cup etc)? How do you like it?

I figure this board is a good place to ask this as I'm willing to bet a cloth board will have a higher proportion of mamas who use re-usable menstrual stuff.

I use the keeper, and I also keep some disposable cups on hand too (that don't work as well, but are better than nothing.) I got the Keeper out of curiosity, it was at my local health foods store. I LOVE it. I googled, and it looks like a lot of women have to search to find the right brand that fits them well, but I hit the jack pot and mine fits perfectly. I did cut the stem down for comfort, though.

I have overactive ovaries and have a period every 2 weeks. With that amount of bleeding, I was upset about the waste I was creating, and my vagina hurt from wearing tampons (that didn't even catch my flow). Using the cup reduced my vaginal irritation, reduced my cramping, and made my life so much easier all around. I'd recommend that if you try it, to start out wearing a pad with it while you are learning how to time it just right. How long you can wear it depends on your flow. And it takes a couple of cycles to work out the kinks as far as making sure it is secure so that you don't have any leaks. But once you figure it out, it's smooth sailing from there. It rocks my world!

I've really wanted to try the diva cup but they aren't recommended for use with an IUD. I switched to mama cloth a few months ago and so far I love it!

I don't but am going to try the Softcup that's at Walgreens. It's disposable but you'd throw away a lot less than tampons or pads.

I use the diva cup and it works great. I used it before kids in size 1 and size 2 after kids. Doesnt leak and its much more comfortable than tampons. I really dont like pads.

i wonder why that is. The IUD is inside the uterus, the diva cup sits outside the cervix, i dont see why they wouldnt be compatible.

I imagine its because there's a concern that it would interfere with the strings in some way. Though I bet its really because there hasn't been a good study to show that is safe and thus they're covering their butts.

It's because you can accidentally pull out the iud. Ask me how I know, lol.
I tried using the diva cup but I ended up having to use it And a pad at the same time. Same thing with tampons. I've been so happy not having af for 18mths.

Yeah, I had the Mirena. I started having lots of side effects, checked the string and realized it was hanging halfway out. I think it had to do with the suction created when putting it in and removing it.

I used the diva cup for 8 years with no problems. After I had kids suddenly I couldn't get a good seal anymore and it seemed to hang out lower than it used to, thus I could feel it. I did some research and found that the lady cup is shorter and more pliable. I switched and I LOVE the thing. It doesn't hold as much as diva but it's a lot easier to get the seal.

I use the diva cup....when I have my AF. I have only really used it for 9 months, since I got it after Liam and only had that many cycles between the boys. But I liked it well enough. I did find that I had to take it out about every four hours on my first two days or I leaked. I think my flow is just heavier than the normal person. I almost filled it a good four times each day for the first two cycle days. But the ones after that, I only need to take it out twice (morning and night) and that is a miracle since I had to use a super plus tampon and a pad and change them hourly on the first couple days. It's a great product. I didn't experiment any with other brands, but I am pretty happy with the diva cup. If I need a new one, I might try another brand, just to see if it works better.

I have a cup & love it... after you've had a few goes at insertion, it really isn't any more taxing than inserting a tampon, or changing a pad... I LOVE that I don't have to buy tampons or pads now, and I've only had a couple of times where I've leaked over night, and thathas been because my heaviest 12 hours happened to fall during the time I was in bed asleep. I'm trying to think of the name of my cup, but cannot for the life of me remember.... (my brain is quite dead today). They're definitely worth the cost, in my opinion
