It's been a good run, but it looks like we are switching to sposies. I feel good about 18 months of not contributing to landfills, but the last six months has been hell on poor Pete's bum. It is covered in scars from the constant rash he has had. Nothing has worked, and I have tried everything. I am so bummed but I guess it isn't fair to keep him in pain for the planet's sake.

I'm sorry. The same exact thing happened with my first son. He was in cloth for a good 10 months without any issues and then all of a sudden he developed the worst rashes. We tried stripping, liners, even buying new diapers in different materials. Don't feel bad!

Poor Peter!!! I seem to remember that you have super crazy hard water too, I imagine that is a big reason for your problems. In the end you need to do what makes sense for your baby!

Are you going to try cloth for #2? I think washing is sooo much easier with EBF babies... maybe at least while they are EBF?

1st of all I love your new siggy Secondly I'm sorry you're having to (temporarily) say good bye to cloth. Peter's comfort is number one so please don't feel too down. You and I both will be pulling the NB cloth out soon enough!!

18 months is a darn good run! And you are right, it's not worth making his bum in pain for no reason. Feel good about what you did and look forward to CDing baby #2!

I am having a hard time actually giving it up. He is back in cloth today o_O. I am putting the bamboo inserts IN the pockets instead of laying them on top. I will see if that helps. I am also going to change him more often and wag the diapers every other day instead of every 3 days.

You could try doing cloth and disposables. Just switch every other diaper.
Nattie has a yeast infection so we are in disposables right now. I have gotten lazy with my other kids and done disposables for awhile, then back to cloth. I never get rid of anything just for that reason.

I'm done after 3 months. I am struggling with my bipolar and apparently PPD on top of that, so I am soooooooooo done. Don't have the extra energy and frankly, I just don't care anymore. Sposies do the same job.

have you tried different detergents? I can only use tide and that helps the rash situation
