Hi, I am new to this board...I have posted a couple of times on the "Large Families" board but thought my questions were more relevant to this one.

I am PG with #6; used cloth diapers with #1, but then got caught up in "it's too inconvenient , etc" and just used disposable with the other 4. I am leaning toward cloth again - we have such a simpler lifestyle now and I really feel it's better, I just let myself get lazy before. The question is, so much has changed since I had my first (18 years ago) and I am COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED looking at cloth diaper sites. Any advice? Personal experiences/opinions on where to start, how much to get of each thing, covers vs all in ones? I am on a fairly strict budget, and have a lot of other stuff I need to get - this pregnancy was a surprise, and we got rid of a lot of our baby stuff after #5!! What system did you use with your first one? Did you just use prefolds and covers? What did you like/dislike about your old system?

Currently for our toddler we have 4 Thirsties size 2 covers (just ordered 2 more) and 24 size 2 prefolds. It's supposed to last us for 2-3 days but it's looking like I can get away with going every 4 days (though I wash on the third day). They definitely work for us but they take a bit of getting used to :\

I don't know your past experiences but even the new sized/smart fit prefolds that fit exactly into the covers with no fold down, might be new to you pocket diapers and synthetic stay-dry fabrics and microfiber absorbent inserts are also popular now, two of the big websites for buying cloth diapers are cottonbabies.com (bumGenius and Flip and Hemp Babies brands) and nickisdiapers.com (Imagine and Best Bottom brands), both sites sell other brands as well.
