Uh oh..... I was prepping all of my prefolds, in the washing machine and my MIL thought she was helping and moved them to the dryer for me (without asking, or giving me a chance to give any instruction).... anyways she dried them all with a bounce sheet. Will I need to strip these and start all over again? I am so not impressed, but obviously she thought she was doing my a favor, so I couldn't even say anything about it, she was also so confused and critical of me using 'special' detergent blah blah blah... But I would like my diapers to be as absorbant and chemical free as possible!

probably wont be a problem if it just happened once. Ive found prefolds to be very forgiving since they are cotton. Usually the microfiber and fleece are more easily ruined this way because they are super soakers and pull everything in and hold onto it. Cotton tends to absorb and then let go when washed. I would just continue to prep as you were. Were you close to being done prepping? I would say add another hot wash and dry to get the fabric softener off before using them.

I put them through one more hot wash, but will probably do one or maybe two more washes before baby is born!

Glad to hear they aren't 'ruined' and I would need to start over!
