When people talk about pockets being harder to wash than prefolds, are they talking about the inserts? What ends up happening? Do they start repelling? I have a few pockets that I've been washing with my pfs- just a cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse, and an occasional second cold rinse if I have time, and I haven't noticed any problems yet....

I have no idea why they would be harder to wash.. pockets and AIOs is all I use, and I have no trouble with the wash.

They do take longer to dry (the inserts), but that's all I can think would be harder..

Pockets aren't harder to wash at all. I wash them the same way I washed my prefolds.

I think I remember something about washing hemp inserts for the first time with pockets and the oils or whatever affecting...something...anyone?

I think what it is is that when you have polyester (which suedecloth and microfleece are), you're more likely to run into issues with repelling, stink, etc. And since there is no elastic or PUL to preserve, you can get away with a lot more with prefolds--such as bleach--then you can with pockets.

And I don't know about anyone else, but my microfiber inserts get all dingy and ugly but my cotton prefolds are still brilliantly white.
