So I have a really weird question.

I was sewing some decorative burp cloths for my cousin who is due in a month and wanted to base it off of prefolds. But in looking closely at my prefolds, I noticed they aren't cut on the grain but are instead cut on the bias. Why is that? Anyone know? I would assume it's so that they don't stretch width or length wise, but why would you not want it to stretch?

i would think so it doesn't stretch as baby wears it and it stays a tight fit as baby moves....imagine how frustrating it would be if you got a nice snug fit and then baby crawls away and it stretches out...

That makes sense, as even being cut on the bias, they do stretch a little bit. I wonder if people that do homemade prefolds have any problem with stretching?
