What else is gonna go wrong? Since my insurance got cancelled at the end of the year, my husband and I applied for state medical assistance for only the pregnancy til I get myself some insurance. We applied at the end of November. Kept emailing and calling about my app and never could get an answer. My appt is Monday. So went by there to talk to someone in person. They couldn't find my app!!!!! I had to reapply on paper. So now Monday is not covered and it may take up to 45 days for the approval. We have to pay out of pocket, $459. We have it but it would put us in a huge bind. It took six weeks to get this appt. I'll already be ten weeks. I couldn't get in before my insurance was cancelled. If it takes another six weeks for another appt, I'll be 16 weeks!!! I need to check on the SCH to see if it's changed and I want to make sure it's not the reason why they baby is measuring smaller than I expected. I don't know what to do. I'm so depressed and can't stop crying. My DH thinks I'm mad at him and he keeps reminding me he will pay for it but I also don't want to be responsible for putting us in a bind. Sorry I just had to rant and get it out.

UPDATE

Good news. We've been in email with our doc and we are going in for at least an ultrasound tomorrow to check on the baby. This will cost a lil less and will help us out. This lifts a huge weight off my shoulders. Hopefully the blood work can wait til my second visit.

I am not sure about your states insurance but here you can check a box on your app and they will back pay medical bills from the previous 3 months. I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

Doubtful. I even asked the lady that put everything in the computer if we could speed it up since i ACTUALLY applied Nov. 26th. Nothing. What pisses me off even more is that the person I was emailing about my app never said the first one was wrong and the second one didn't go through. If I knew I would've went in weeks ago to do the paper one. She had told me Dec. 23rd she gave my app to a supervisor.

I also asked about the backpay and they said only for UNPAID bills. My doctor's office requires everything upfront. The appt is first thing Monday (10:10am) so no time to do anything.

I'm so sorry! They screwed up and you have to pay for it. Definitely not fair.

If you get pregnant woman's medicaid it should kick in like ... that day. That's how it was with my son, they just printed a paper and paid everything retroactively. I just let the Dr's office know then that I was getting medicaid and they let me be seen.

There should be a way to do this, have you asked your doctors office?

Yeah, if it's Medicaid, I think it should be easier. Sorry you're dealing with this. Personally, if you have the money, I would go - especially to check on that SCH.

I asked about this and the lady said up to 45 days, which is stupid. My children and my info is already in the system since my son is disabled and on disability. It's insane. I cried myself to sleep over it last night. I got 4 hrs of sleep. I'm exhausted.

You said you needed bloodwork? Do they send your bloodwork out? Do you have a Quest Diagnostics in your area? If so I can offer you some advice with them, i used to work for them and they have plenty of options to help people in a bind. Let me know...

Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time! Hang in there and keep that precious LO you're carrying in mind - once you are holding them in your arms, all this will seem a distant memory. HUGS!
