I have gotten sciatic pain with each pregnancy. Iyt just seems to get earlier with each baby. DS1 started at around 8mo, DS2 was around 6mo if I remember correctly. I am 14+4 and have been dealing with this pain for at least 2 weeks now. I am laying in bed right now trying to get some relief. Well, I just sneezed. In order to save my back I tensed up and ended up pinching something in my stomach. Now I hurt front and back. I just can't seem to catch a break. I see my OB next Friday so I will be asking him if there is anything I can do to help. So far yoga, and exercising aren't helping at all.

The front pain sounds like a RLP. I get bad sciatic pain while pregnant too but nothing so far. With my first pregnancy I did physical therapy and with my second I went to a chiropractor. Both helped a ton. I hope your doctor can refer you for something and you can get some relief.

my goodness this is me!! I got it bad and early with my 1st and mainly wrote it off because im shorter. It hit me hard the day before yesterday and I told me OB and she said other than stretching and maybe some chiro adjustments/massage not much to do about it. UGH!!!!

I had regular chiro and massage throughout my 1st pregnancy but I worked much closer to my Doula who was also a Chiro and had a massage therapist in her office. This time I need to find all new people ... boo

OWWWWW! I hope you feel better soon!

So, is this what happens when I get a sudden pain after sneezing, coughing or intense orgasm? It is kinda ridiculous how I go about my day and then I sneeze and I have a sharp pain around my lower abdomen.

Sorry - hope you can get some relief. Would Tylenol help?

For those going thru the same issue I did some research today. Turns out it probably isn't sciatica at all. Only 1% of pregnant women get true sciatica. I think it is actually pelvic girdle pain (PGP) it is a form of SPD that affects the lower back, butt, and leg area instead of the front part of the pelvis. It is from the extra relaxen causing the pelvis to slip out of alignment. Everything I can find says that PT or a Chiro are the only treatments. However stretching can help. Normal pregnancy yoga mat s not recommended since that focuses on stretching the hips for delivery. Things to try are certain regular yoga positions that stretch the back, wearing flat shoes, heating pads, keeping your knees together whenever possible, and good posture. You should make sure to balance your weight when standing, sit straight, sit down with knees together and then rotate your body to get into the car instead of doing one leg at a time, sit down to put your pants on, don't carry heavy shoulder bags, and if you have other kids don't carry them on your hip. I hope this s helps. I plan on trying some of the yoga since i've been doing some of that already.

ouch ouch ouch!! I too get this, but not usually until a bit later and so far it hasn't reared its ugly head. I always found chiro and massage helped but I was advised to use a heating pad with caution as to not overheat that area of my body while baby inhabited it. Just a few minutes at a time. I hop eyou find the thing that works for you!
