I have meet a road block I am scheduled for a Csection .I am not sure when would be a good time to bring my son (4 years old) and my Daughter ( 6 years old) to the hospital to meet there baby sister. At the hospital I am going to I will do recovery after Csection in my room with a nurse there for an Hour. My Question is I do not want to scare my children and have them see me all Druged up with Ivs the first time the meet there little Sister. My son is a Extreme Mommies Boy and I worry about him seeing me and freaking out. What is your experience or ideas on the situation?

When I had my second daughter the plan was to bring her up the afternoon I had her sister. However, it wasn't the smoothest of c-sections so I decided to have my husband wait one more day to bring her up. It might have been easier for us though because my older daughter was only 2 at the time so she didn't really know time or care all that much.

This time around I am just planning on them coming the second day. That way I know I'll be feeling better and I won't have any stress.

My Mother In-law will be watching them during my stay at the hospital at my house about 20 minutes from the Hospital.

Since you're worried about your son seeing the IV and being drugged plus your house is close to the hospital, I'd wait to call your MIL to bring your kids until after the IV gets taken out and you're feeling normal.

I'm not sure when I'll have my kids come. (9 and 7) I guess once I feel human again, no set time frame. I was exhausted after my first DD but felt fine after the twins so I don't know what this delivery will be like.

My kids know that needles and IVs and wires and tubes are part of a hospital the oldest won't be around to meet his brother but non of my kids have ever been to the hospital after baby I've been letting them watch a baby story with me and explaining when they had a question.

My kids have always come a few hours after birth as long as everything has gone smooth. With Liam they came to visit after he got out of the NICU. If all goes well. ..they will meet new baby a few hours after birth.

My kids will come shortly after birth as long as she isn't born in the middle of the night. If she is, they will come the next morning. They are nearly. 10 and 7 so they are fully aware of the IV/meds etc.

Go with your gut on what to do. If you decide to have kids show early you can always explain that the wires are for special medicine for mommy since you had a baby.

I know with a csection this isn't really possible but our plan is to have DD with us for as much of labor as possible if things are going smoothly and I am not in too much pain. We are looking at a probable induction so I will have DD in the room with me to hang out before I am hooked up and while they are hooking me up so it isn't a shock or surprise when she comes in after delivery. She goes with to each of my doctor's appointments so she has seen them draw blood and check blood pressure and things like that, it doesn't bother her. She is a Doc McStuffins fan so I compare things they do to things that Doc does and it excites her.

DD will be the first person other than DH and I that gets to meet baby, I am planning on taking 30 minutes or so of us 3 and baby before any other family is allowed back.

I remember when I went to meet my little brother. I had just turned 7 and my mom had an IV in and it bugged me. I remember asking her what it was for and if she was okay and she reassured me sure was perfectly fine. After that it didn't bother me at all. That's just me but her being honest with me made me feel a lot better. I was so into my new brother I didn't care much after that.

I don;t have a plan for this - it depends on how I'm feeling and the time of day. When I'm ready I'll just tell DH to pick him up and my nephew and bring 'em over.

We are not sure how were going to do this either. I guess it depends on the time of day the baby is born and who is watching them.
