I've been talking to a few different newborn photographers in the area and of course am always looking for a deal. I've gotten a lot of them coming back at $400 including session fee and min order. I wonder if you ladies think this is in line? Money is getting tight and will continue to be with me off for a year but the last think I want to do is not do it for this one and potentially do it for the next, or splash out for this one and not the next.

I think that is a pretty normal price. It usually takes a few hrs and photographers get peed and pooped on, lol. The photographer I had charges $800 for newborn,6mos and cake smash pics all together, but you get digital images with that.

I paid 400 for a 2 hour session (she actually took over 2.5 hrs) and the rights to 10 images on CD, so we can make as many prints as we want. There were cheaper ones in town, as well as more expensive ones.

I spoke with another photographer today who a high school friend had used she charges $275 for a 2-4 hour session and includes all edited images b/w and colour for free.
The other photographer had a $300 product minimum buy and charge $40 for a 5x7 and the scale just went up from there. I just don't think I can swallow $400 for 7.5 images where she literally hands over the prints and not the files.
With this other person though chances are i'll end up spending the same kind of money once I have baby books made up for ourselves, family overseas and in Canada. On the upside I know with most of my girlfriends now that I've found our photographer i've found our photographer for all the milestones, birthdays, cake smash and I appreciate the way she operates
