I don't have an ED tattoo..I have a recovery tattoo on the top of my right foot. It is a dragonfly with my "recovery song" title next to it. Dragonflies signify maturation of ideas/thoughts and growth. So it was fitting. Looking at it (and my children) reminds me why I am in recovery everyday
Dragonflies are indeed very popular (as are butterflies) when approaching a "new life" sorta thing. I liked what a dragonfly meant.
My recovery song has little to do with recovery itself...but it was a song that meant something to me and seemed to fit my stage of life. It is called "Dare you to move" by Switchfoot. It is about pulling yourself up and moving on. About arriving at a new place. I saw them in concert about a year after I hit recovery and bawled my eyes out. Here is a pic:
I have one on my hip that means "success". I put it there so that every time I'm staring myself down in the mirror and picking my body apart I can see it and remind myself I can be successful at beating this thing and in life in general.
