There's nothing, as far as I know, that can really prevent stretch marks. They're mostly genetic from what I understand.
I used Arbonne's firming cream when I was pregnant with DD, and didn't get any marks.. my mom never got marks either though, so I don't think it was the cream that helped necessarily. I just used it to prevent the itchiness..lol
I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones and not get any last time. Made it to the last two weeks and they all showed up at once. I had used Shea butter, vitamin e oil, everything I could think of to help keep my skin hydrated.
It probably would have been better if I had gained only the recommended amount of weight....
I don't really ever show off my stomach so I wasn't worried about stretch marks, but I did make sure to keep my belly moisturized because the itching is unbearable. I use leftover conditioner in the shower, like you would do for cuticles.
What will you be using?
are there lotions out there that really work?
i've tried tons of products and none of them worked. i still have stretch marks on my hips and breasts which are still pinkish red... the thought of getting more is really depressing me
I don't believe in any of the creams. I believe it's hereditary I haven't gotten them anywhere other than my boobs and those have really faded away for the most part except when I have gotten pregnant again. I have a few on my hips that are very pale but are from weight lifting in high school.
It is largely hereditary, yes. But you I think there are things you can do to help, at least with the itchiness! I used bio-oil last time, it didn't stop them from forming but it helped them stop itching and it really helped them fade.
Just be sure to drink lots of water, keep moisturized and whatever you do, DON'T ITCH THEM. lol, I swear everytime I itched them, my stretch marks gave birth to little baby stretch marks But water and moisturization is good for your skin anyways. It certainly can't hurt to try!
JaxonJocelyn Gabriel Grayson and due in September!
I wear my tiger stripes proudly so don't worry about them They do fade over time and become less noticeable. I don't think I really got any new ones with #3, can't remember about #2...maybe I just keep expanding on the same stretch marks lol.
