That's a long time to have contractions! Hopefully there's no cervix changes or anything and they get them stopped quickly!!

hey guys.

so, it had been going on all day. i had been ignoring them until my husband came home, and he insisted that i start timing them. they were clock work, every four minutes, and i could feel them in my back.

i drank a ton of water, went from sitting up to laying down, and no change. and they were getting stronger. so at ten, dh was like, youre only 30 weeks, lets just call and get you checked out.

they admitted me right away and put me on a monitor and and iv. there was talk of mediction to stop the labor, and shots to mature darwins lungs.

i had a few big contractions that were *two* min apart when i first got there, but they slowed down and eventually stopped. the monitor showed a lot of cramping and what they called "irritation". but the iv seemed to help immensely.

they did the fetal whateveritscalled test to see if id be going into labor in the next two weeeks, and that came back negative. and, they did an ultrasound to check on my cervix and no dilation or shortening!

i ended up having to stay until almost 2 am on the monitor, even after all that good news, because darwin was doing major jumping jacks and his heart rate was up at 170. but it did slow down, and they discharged me, saying that if this happens again to absolutely come back.

good news! I do not like those early scares... Why must there be false labor? Why can't it just be labor or no labor? haha

oh wow. Glad everything was ok! How scary. Does this put you at more risk for false labor happening again? Did they tell you to do anything to help prevent it?

honestly? i'm not 100% sure! i think the fact that i had funneling earlier in this pregnancy is making them worry. they were pretty convinced that i was going to be delivering darwin very early. the funneling did randomly resolve itself (??!) but these contractions are making them think it could return. (last night, the on-call ob said she was expecting to see my water sac bulging when when she did the cervical check, ack!!)

point is... they made it sound like i need to really keep a close eye on it, and that i need to come in immediately if it comes back.

as for how to stop it from happening again... again, i'm not so sure!!

the iv seemed to slow, and eventually stop the contractions. so, their only suggestion right now is that i up my fluid intake. and that seems insane to me! i'm already pretty close to a gallon of water a day. i don't do caffeine, so that's not dehydrating me, and i pretty much stay indoors in the air conditioning all day. i'm a sahm, and there really aren't a whole host of reasons for me to go out in the heat if i can avoid it! even grocery shopping gets put off until later in the day when it starts to cool off.

the going theory right now is that my UTI didn't go away from that week-long course of antibiotics, and *that* might be causing all the contractions! they did a repeat urine culture on tuesday to check, but the lab results weren't in yet, as of last night. so hopefully i hear something about that today.
