When do you go in for your test? When will you get results?

Sending good vibes your way that everyone gets normal results. And we should have some gender reveals very soon! Eeek! So exciting

I was supposed to have it done today (at 10+1), but right beforehand my OB's insurance department discovered my insurance won't cover it unless another test comes back abnormal first. They only do Harmony and it would have been $795 out of pocket, so I opted not to do it. Results would have taken 1-2 weeks. I'm a bit bummed.

Mine is next week, they said it would take about 2 weeks for the results (Harmony). Will we get the gender too? I didn't even think to ask! I was just reading on msn about how these tests are more and more reliable.

I've heard with MaterniT21 the most they will bill you if insurance doesn't cover it is like $200. I would have done that if given the option, but my Dr's office isn't set up with that lab to do it.

There are 2 versions of Harmony. If you want to know the gender ask them to make sure the "With Y Analysis" option is checked.

My office doesn't offer that test or any genetic testing. They don't do the quad screen or anything, saying that it has too many false positives. That I get but I hate that they don't do the other stuff. It is a small town though.

See that's what I was wondering bc my OB sends us elsewhere to get all of our labs done. So do they need to have a lab in office to get one of these tests?

No, they just have to be set up with the lab that processes them. Like my OB has an in house lab, but these types of test have to be mailed out to Sequenom or whatever company it is to be run (Sequenom is who does MaterniT21), they aren't processed in house. Not sure if that makes any sense lol, haven't woken up fully today yet.

I scheduled mine for March 17, but am waiting to hear back whether insurance will cover. If insurance doesn't cover, then I probably won't have it done. DF and I agreed that the results won't affect any decisions for us, so there's no sense in being put out a bunch of money!

I got my blood draw on a monday (week before last) and the doctor's office called me on Tuesday the next week (8 days - date on lab results was 7 days) to tell me it's normal and that it's a boy. Very cool. And what a relief to know everything is normal.

The lab I normally go to for lab work drew the blood, my doctor's office gave me the MaterniT21 specimen box, which I gave to the lab tech, they drew my blood, then sent it off FedEx.
