I work in a hospital. There are lots of upcoming changes in my program. I currently work with Veterans from WWII and the Korean war. You can imagine that these guys are getting old and becoming extinct. There might not even be a Veterans program in a few years. They are already closing units in the program and staff are having to pick new lines and it is just a mess and a lot of uncertainty. I am afraid that when I come back from mat leave my unit may close and I might be bounced into a new position.
So I applied for a position within the palliative care unit. I love palliative care and it has been a dream of mine to return to this kind of work for many years. Well I just got the call and I am meeting with the manager on Monday! I am so excited!
You could have just asked! Pardon my medical jargon! If anyone is wondering what palliative care is, I will be working with terminally ill clients (most cases Cancer) and will provide comfort and care before they pass. It is not for everyone, very emotional, but SOOOOO rewarding! I love that bed side nursing!
