Has anyone had this happen? We went to grab lunch today (I waited in the car) and while we were in the car my vision went nuts. I felt like I was under a strobe light. It really scared me!!! Right as that started to go away after about 30 minutes, I was hit with a horrible headache in my forehead and eyes. After taking Tylenol, having my husband rub my head, and taking a long nap, it's mostly gone.
Has anyone else had this happen? It really freaked me out!

How scary! I would call your doctor on Monday and see if you could speak to a nurse or doctor on the phone. They can help you decide if you need to go in and get it checked out.

Sounds like a high blood sugar crash. Can happen after eating pasta or carby foods. Please let your doctor/midwife know as they will take gestational diabetes into consideration earlier!!

Yes, you need to see your doctor! Could be high blood pressure or your sugar!

That could be the case as well, it could be too low.

Sounds like a migraine. Did you have nausea with the headache?
I have had all sorts of vision changes with mine. Luckily I have never gotten them when I was pregnant. Mine can get pretty bad. Not only do I have issues with my vision but I have had my speech affected too. That was down right terrifying the first time it happened. I thought I was having a stroke. At that point I know I am on borrowed time until the pain hits and I have to work quick. The way I treat them I don't think I can do while I am pregnant.

Definitely have had nausea but have been attributing it to morning sickness. I've had similar things happen before I was pregnant, but not this severe. Hopefully my dr calls back quickly!

It sounds like a migraine to me too. I'm sure your doctor will stay on top of it. Feel better, mama!

Heard back from my doctor. He said to take Tylenol, have a bit of caffiene, and make sure I'm hydrated. He said the blurred vision with a headache is pretty common and that as long as it goes away with the headache, its nothing to worry about. I'm on Zofran for ms and he said that may have contributed to the headache. It's pretty much gone now, and my vision is all good. Thank goodness. He said if I wasn't able to get rid of it with those things he told me to do, to go to the instacare.

Hope you don't mind I'm lurking from the Oct 2013 PR....

I had these same things at least 6-7 times during my last pregnancy, freaked me right out as well. I googled some and I'm pretty sure they were Ocular migraines. I think they are more common during pregnancy. I haven't had one since. Hope you don't get anymore, I know how scary they are!

YES! My vision has been crazy. I can't recall it being accompanied by a headache, though. Sometimes dizziness, though.
I think snacking throughout the day and staying hydrated helps me.

I get vision auras right before a migraine, and if I don't take something right away, I'm done for 2 days. The funny thing with me, is that my migraines go away totally while pregnant. I do get floaters though, in my vision.

I'd write down everything you did today and yesterday, and ate and at what time. So if it happens again, you can start to narrow down what is causing it.

I was going to say migraine too. Ocular migraines can cause some really weird visual symptoms. Pregnancy can mess with everything and it can totally bring migraines.

Yup I'd also say Ocular migraine, I had one yesterday and it was horrible. I'm glad your doctor got back to you and gave you some good insight on what to do and what could be causing it.

I've just been reading up on ''migraines during early pregnancy'' to figure out what I can do to prevent these in the future as I could not imagine what I would do if it would hit me at work! In general the sites mostly say : keep a journal to find the triggers, cold showers or compresses help as well as relaxing and sleeping.

When I read your story though I first thought that you may have had a sort of hypoglycemia moment. Were you really hungry before the blurred vision hit or had it been a long time since you last ate? Not eating often enough to keep your blood sugar at a good range may have been the trigger for the migraine.

Anyways I'm glad you are feeling better and hope it stays away.
