I'm a bit worried: I've already gained 4 pounds and am only 7 weeks along. I've read that you should gain 1-5 pounds first trimester.

I have changed my eating habits a bit: more salt more carbs. And have stopped exercising: walking makes me want to hurl.

But 4 pounds feels like a lot. Going to force myself back on my exercise machines!

Anyone else worried about weight gain or weight loss? For those who've BTDT: how much did you gain/lose first trimester with past pregnancies?

I gained 3lbs in my first trimester with my daughter, but that's a lot for me as I'm overweight to begin with so I'm not supposed to gain much the whole time.

Try not to fret too much about weight gain this early - once you start seeing your dr more regularly, they'll be able to monitor you and give you a range to stay within month to month. Everyone is going to be a bit different - you might have gained 4 already, but you might not gain anything the latter half of this trimester. It's all about finding your rhythm with food this early on I think...you have to find what works and keeps your stomach settled!!

I have found that people all gain differently. I have NEVER had a pregnancy where I gained less that 45 pounds. That is clearly what my body needs to sustain a pregnancy. None of my doctors have ever given me grief about it. I guess they also figure : what are they going to say to the crazy lady that is now having 6 kids?? There will be people in here who have lost weight at the end of the pregnancy, some who have gained 10 pounds, some who have gained 25 or so, and some in the upper range, like, me, gaining 45+. And I almost always pack on at least 5 pounds within the first few weeks. I think it's my body's nesting instinct.

Carbs and pasta will make you gain weight. I gained 80 with my first. You have to keep active. Are you taking a prenatal that has B6 in it? It helps combat nausea.

Every one of mine has been different. My first I didn't gain anything in the first trimester, but 27lbs in total. Second I gained 6lbs in the first and 45lbs total. Third I am not sure about the first but in total I gained 50lbs. My fourth I gained 35lbs.
So none of my pregnancies have been the same. As long as you eat healthy you sound be fine. As far as exercise goes try yoga. I will be your best bet in the beginning to keep you from feeling so icky and you can get moving a bit more when you and the weather are feeling better!

I just got on the scale, and I've gained 4 too! All I've been eating is junk for the last few days, which would make me gain a few pounds from bloating even when not pregnant. I'll get back on a better diet and weigh again after a few days. I'm still logging all of my food and upped my calories to maintenance, but I think after all the sugar, carbs, and salt, I'm really bloated. I'm also thinking what my fitness pal thinks is maintenance is a bit off. I might cut it back 1-200 calories and see what happens.

I have the opposite problem.

I lose weight really easily. If I stop snacking and eat normal 3 meals a day, I will drop 10lbs in 1-2 weeks. If I go on a "partial fast" (drink water, juice, eat veggies, crackers), I will lose 10lbs in 3 days. Second problem, I don't feel hungry as often as I should. I can easily go a whole day without eating and not realize.

Last pregnancy, my midwife said I'd probably gain 15-25 pounds, depending on the size of the baby. Even when I eat a horrible diet, I gain only 1 pound a month or less. So lots of healthy food for me to get good nutrients. Last pregnancy in the 11 weeks I gained 5 or so, but it was bloat.

Right now I'm 5'2" and 120 lbs. Honestly I'd like to lose 10 pounds because I can see the extra weight around my waist and legs. But once I'm at 120, I don't lose anymore. Weird body.
